Themed levels ie tank level ODST, Banshee level from ODST

In ODST for example the Banshee level gives you no reason to ever get out of your vehicle(aside from some very brief parts that are far too short anyway)even though engauging on foot is highly entertaining. There isn't any point all the time you can kill everything in a much easier way in the air. It's this side of Bungie's mission design that i hope is addressed

I guess i am unfairly aiming this at ODST which seems the biggest culprit out of all the games but it's a trend i hope doesn't figure into Bungie's new way for levels and how they apply the journey through them

While clearly you don't have to jump into a tank should you not want to, you have to be mad not to.The Mombasa tank section is actually a lot of fun on foot but it doesn't make sense to bother

As much as i love what Bungie did for ODST, and understand why maybe there is a more single approach design to a couple of these levels, it's a bit naff if this is what we get from Reach

Better use of Bungie's terrific sandbox is really all we want from Reach's hopefully longer levels - a bit more creative use as to how we travel them

I remember in Halo2 while on the Mombasa bridge, i would always take to foot this section as it was always more intensely satisfying getting to the end this way.But really it's forcing a much harder method for the sake of a more satisfying time and that takes you out of the experience

While it's realistic to expect that sometimes through a level you wouldn't have a choice were it a real situation say, getting through levels in a game should be in a way the player chooses at times ie a generous amount of parts where an option exists to aproach the section differently

Totally agree. Freedom of choice is incredibly important.

That's it, Halo to me is a game where freedom of choice is king so why limit it

i agree thats what made ODST such a horrible game, all the best set pieces rip-offed from older halo games. it was like been thier done that. Halo Reach needs to be revolutionary!

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

One of the reasons Halo 1 was a revolutionary game was due to freedom of choice.

Stop PMing me if you are group recruiting.

The levels in ODST were designed with the plot and story line in mind. You aren't going to escape in a Banshee if you choose not to, so that would conflict with the story.

I actually like the designed levels, otherwise we would all just have to walk for 12+ hours of gameplay.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

I agree with this, but what Monkey King says is also very true. ODST was specially designed with a purpose in mind. As an ODST you are much more limited than a Spartan in terms of capability, you "need" to rely on your vehicles, on your avenue of advantage. Spartans naturally have the ability to approach a situation in multiple ways, as they themselves are basically walking tanks.

You say goodbye, and I say good riddance.

One of the things I loved most about previouse halo games, was the fact that I could approuch a situation differently most every playthrough.

Halo 3 ( and ODST ) force a certain type of playstyle. I hate this.

On example is the duel scarab battle in H3. I think it is much funner to engadge them in a Guass hog, as opposed to a Hornet. But this is nearly impossible without co-op. Leaving me with just ONE viable option.

One of my favorite parts of Halo 2 was also that bridge. I prefer using the hog as opposed to the tank. Then there was always the option to go on foot, or even steal a banshee!

Greater variety in tactics that can be applied to a given situation = win

Yup that's agood example there

It's a great set piece that i often enjoy attempting in a hog or insanely by foot.Again though the whole idea of doing this the hard way really isn't required as all you need is your Hornets.Shame really as the scale from this viewpoint is like nothing else - same when going through this whole snow section on foot

Maybe Bungie could have options on certain levels to turn vehicles off - maybe a gold skull
