Halo: Heretic or Hero---An Elite's Story
Choose your own destiny

Forged in the Flames of Passion, go forth and represent!

As most of us know, Halo Wars introduced several new vehicles to the Halo Universe, each presenting their own advantages. They are as follows:

UNSC Superunits

Grizzly- A notoriously powerful variant of the Scorpion tank.

Hawk- A modified Hornet with...well., Lasers.

UNSC Unique Units

Wolverine- Anti air vehicle

Cobra-Anti Vehicle unit. Can also be locked down for extra power.

Vulture- Basically a flying tank. One of the UNSC's most powerful units.

Covenant Unique Units

Locust- Anti-base vehicle, but could probably be rendered to anti infantry, vehicle, or air.

Vampire- Anti air flying unit, but could probably be rendered to be something like a super-banshee

Super Scarab- Need I even explain this one? It would have to be something like a boss battle, I suppose.

Hope some of these make it to Reach!

Discuss.

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

Other than the Grizzly which is the late John Forge's non-standard Scorpion upgrade (ie unique to the Spirit of Fire) and is basically just a heavier and more powerful Scorpion anyway (so it would add little variety and would just be unbalanced) I would like to see some Halo Wars units in Reach. It would add legitimacy to that game for the idiots shouting "Halo Wars is not canon!" despite having been shown many times how their arguments are null and void.

You forgot the Rhino, true in Halo Wars the only Rhinos were the experimental ones outfitted with captured Wraith Plasma Mortars but most Rhinos are still howitzer tanks that launch metal shells.

Other nitpicks:

It's actually called a Sparrowhawk, Hawk is just a verbal abbreviation. And it only has one laser, which is basically a Spartan Laser but shoots a white beam for some reason, probably different heat or energy output. Sparrowhawks also have machine guns.

Technically the Cobra's lockdown just allows it to fire it's 110mm heavy gauss gun, without locking down the recoil would flip the vehicle.

A Locust's main gun is like a scaled down Scarab Gun.

The UNSC would classify a Vampire as an Air Superiority VTOL. Basically this means an aircraft designed to destroy other aircraft and generally not effective against ground targets.

Yeah, I knew it was called the Sparrowhawk, but it is well known to fans as the 'Hawk'.

Right. So, in other words, it is more powerful in lockdown.

A Locust's main gun is like a scaled down Scarab Gun.

It is an anti-building unit, but like I said, it could be redone to be something like a mini-Scarab.

The UNSC would classify a Vampire as an Air Superiority VTOL. Basically this means an aircraft designed to destroy other aircraft and generally not effective against ground targets.

Again, since there is normally not much air combat in the Halo Series (although there could be in Reach) Bungie could change the air superiority factor into a main aircraft, like the Banshee.

No actually it is called the hawk. The sparrowhawk waas cut and the hornet upgrade is just called the "hawk".

Anyway, wolverine would be limited but interesting, cobra would be AWESOME and locust would be cool to have too (you hijack them from underneath).

Not in Matchmaking of course. They would all be overpowered and destroy everything. Campaign would be an exception.

Maybe you could use the Grizzly to blast through a heavily occupied area of Hunters and Wraiths (like 8 pairs of Hunters and 15 Wriaths)?

The Hawk to fly a long distance and take down some AA Wraiths or to take down some AA guns to let a Frigate or some Pelicans pass? That could be a difficult level but you got yourself a freakn' Hawk, man!

The Wolverine to defend an important position against Covenant air units.

The Vulture to take down the Super Scarab.

Any of the other Covenant units to be used in the Covenant Campaign (if there is going to be one, I hope so).

I would never put down the controller if those made it into reach. In the past Bungie has done a great job of balancing vehicles with infantry, I'm sure it could be done with these. They would also make a great addition to the yet to exist, Reach sandbox and would be awesome in multiplayer.

Why would they be overpowered? Bungie can make them do as much damage as necessary to keep them from being over or under powered.

It's called Sparrowhawk. Even says that on Halopedia. You might be thinking the Falcon.

Anyways, I hope that these vehicles and the Spectre can atleast be forgable (I also hope for the Shadow, though that is a little far fetched).

That's not a Super Scarab. It's just a Scarab that's not complete yet. If you analyze that picture, you can see it is just a regular old Scarab.

That Scarab was far larger than normal ones in the game. Play the game before posting, please.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Grizzly, that's the only one I would like to see. Right trigger fires the right cannon and left trigger fires the left cannon.

Imagine the power.

Same could be said about the Cobra (Dual Railguns).

Cobras use Rail Guns. And Cobras are pretty slow. Although that could be changed, a Grizzly seems much more practical.

Rail Guns and Gauss Turrets both use magnetism to rapidly accelerate a slug, only difference is that Railguns also use electricity. I always keep forgetting that little part, dang it. I'll edit my post.

Anyways, I can see Bungie making the Cobra go at a speed that is between Warthog's and Scorpian's because of those wheels. Reminds me of the Centaur from GOW, to be honest.

I would like to see a Cobra and a Grizzly, but a Grizzly would do WAY more damage than a Cobra. A Cobra needs accurate shots while a Grizzly has major splash damage.

In the end, they are both awesome vehicles to kill thousands of Covenant with. For me, though, I would like to drive a Grizzly more.

Anyways, I meant the LT and RT part when I brought up the Cobra.

If the gore is increased... I think using a Cobra would be amazingly entertaining. A Grizzly would rip the body apart leaving nothing there.

A Cobra, on the other hand, would rip a hole in the body. Lots of Covenant blood!

If you could lock down the Cobra and use the main cannon, then the body would blow up, but the dual rail guns... satisfying to use.

  • 10.16.2009 7:58 PM PDT

I would also want these vehicles to be forgable on maps and campaign, just not MM. Same with AA Wraiths, Shades, Spectre, Sniper Tower, Mounted Missile Pod, and Shadows.

  • 10.16.2009 7:59 PM PDT

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The Grizzly and Hawk are unnecessary, everything else should be included.

Agreed. But I really don't care about the transforming part of the Cobra. When it's in Lockdown, I want it to be similar to the Rhino. For Human artillary, we can just have the Fox Cannon.

Fox Cannon fires five shells per minute? Hmm... better hope they come in groups because one would be a mere annoyance rather than a threat. =P
