So we can expect Halo Reach to maybe twist some things as far as how everything happened, such as adding new weapons, vehicles, and even enemies.

This is the last Bungie made Halo game, so I hope they go out with a bang. Possibly adding brutes on Reach, and even Flood would make the game interesting.

I know many people dislike the Flood, but they are a part of Halo. The things Bungie needs to do is make the Flood levels seem more "zombie apocolyptic". The "Quarantine" level on Halo 3 was the closest to this.

New weapons, vehicles, and enemies would be nice as well. Bungie would just need to make everything make sense.

For example, there is a new weapon on Reach being field tested during the battle. This weapon was only used or Reach because its design/blueprints were lost when the planet was glassed.

What do you guys think? Feel free to add any ideas, and make sure to describe them nicely. It can be anything from plot changes, new weapons, vehicles, enemies, ect.

Bungie can add any weapons and vehicles for the UNSC that they want because as you said they have the "it was destroyed on Reach" excuse as to why they didnt show up anywhere else. Brutes would fit into the cannon fairly easily. The reason they werent on the first Halo is because the fleet that followed the POA was an Elite controlled fleet. That doesnt mean however that there was no Brute ships at Reach.

I agree and wouldn't mind seeing Brutes in Reach. It would be interesting to see how Brutes fight along side with Elites. It could lead to some epic fights. We know that the Brutes and Elites dislike each other, so I wonder how they will fight along side with each other.

Also, I haven't read the books, and I'm not sure how many Frigates there were on Reach, but a cool mission that we could have is defending a large Human ship. It would be something like the Halo Wars level where the Spirit of Fire crew defended against Covanent/Flood assaults. It would be something like a squad of Spartans along with Marines defending against Pelican Dropships and Banshees. Imagine that level as a Firefight map.

For those who haven't played Halo wars, that mission took place on the I guess you would call it, the Roof of the Spirit of Fire. There were turrets and such and Phantoms were constantly dropping units.

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

So far including and excluding stuff has worked well. If there isn't a real reason, you can think of 1 by yourself.

The change between Halo2 and 3 Truth is still the worst hole I can think of. Voice, looks and personality completely different.

Any way this "New Cannon overwrites Old Cannon" didn't work for Star Wars It sure as hell won't for Halo if they over do it.

Canon

  • 10.17.2009 9:52 AM PDT

the only problem with the new weapons thing is that if you have read the books, the spartans that were stuck on reach had BR's and parts from the new mark V armor because they were being tested at reach, not created at reach. The only weapon that i know of that was created at Reach was the "planet killer" bomb that Whitcomb was working on.

That actually could be very interesting, just sneaking up onto a squad and an elite is arguing with a brute
or in battle an elite will go up and assinate a brute on his team...

ahahaha

Secret prototypes.

At least for MP they should have 100% rechargeable health and shields. MP doesn't work well without that.

It sure as hell did, considering they didn't overwrite anything.

Except maybe Greedo shot first.

I hope we'll have the newer versions of these at Reach. They make everything awesome.

I wouldn't mind seeing the one on the Halo 2 Demo.

Retconing is the worst thing you can do to a series.

Like the fact that humanity had 17 colonies, not hundreds.

No, just no. I don't care what the title of this thread says. It would be absolutely stupid to add the flood and new enemies, NO. It would be confusing and retarded.

You have put no thought into what would happen if everything you suggested happened. NO.

We can name more than seventeen human colonies. That's not retconning, that's a plot inconsistency. Big difference.

Retconning is perfectly fine if it fits alongside everything else. Otherwise, every single prequel in existence with an ounce of new information would be absolutely terrible.

No, Staten specifically said that they changed the number of colonies for humanity because the 800 number was never official.

Bull-blam!- if you ask me.

I'd rather them not just try to "rewrite" history, so to speak. I think instead that they should take a leaf out of CODMW2's book, and include cool concepts and ideas that they couldn't fit in the main campaign in a separate, non canonical, mode.

The change between Halo2 and 3 Truth is still the worst hole I can think of. Voice, looks and personality completely different.

I thought of a reason as to why Truth's voice, looks, and personality are different then in Halo 2. The movie sequence in the level the Covenant, where the Arbiter kills Truth shows that he was infected by the Flood. Since no one knows how long he had been infected, or how he was preventing it from taking over his whole body it is understandable that he wouldn't be acting like his normal self.

Not a bad idea...he could have gotten infected before leaving High Charity.

He was infected right then and there.

Your theory just brings up more inconsistencies, as to why Gravemind would wait so long to infect him completely.

The flood isn't a virus, there is no incubation period. They infect you as fast as possible to assimilate you into them.

There's a difference between Colony and colonized world. Do Reach, Circumstance, and Tribute count as individual colonies or is Epsilon Eridani the colony?

Looking through all Halo material the UNSC had permanent settlements in 16 known systems including Sol and I believe that some of these don't actually have a colony (like Onyx in the Zeta Doradus system, it's just a research base). So if only a colonized system counts as a "UNSC Colony" then it is consistent to have 17 colonies.

EDIT: Concerning Truth; his personality change is not unlike Hitler's. Growing madness and paranoia could easily account for the difference. And as for the different voice who really cares that much? It wasn't really a huge change anyway, both voices are middle aged Midwestern males with a watery timber.
