So we can expect Halo Reach to maybe twist some things as far as how everything happened, such as adding new weapons, vehicles, and even enemies.

This is the last Bungie made Halo game, so I hope they go out with a bang. Possibly adding brutes on Reach, and even Flood would make the game interesting.

I know many people dislike the Flood, but they are a part of Halo. The things Bungie needs to do is make the Flood levels seem more "zombie apocolyptic". The "Quarantine" level on Halo 3 was the closest to this.

New weapons, vehicles, and enemies would be nice as well. Bungie would just need to make everything make sense.

For example, there is a new weapon on Reach being field tested during the battle. This weapon was only used or Reach because its design/blueprints were lost when the planet was glassed.

What do you guys think? Feel free to add any ideas, and make sure to describe them nicely. It can be anything from plot changes, new weapons, vehicles, enemies, ect.

I don't think Flood would work, unless it was a "Lost Chapter" in the Halo-verse with an event similar to the Halo 3 cutscene where the Flood-infected ship exited slipspace and crashed near the city of Voi. It would have to be with new characters, too.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Yeah, in real life if there was a Flood outbreak, things would be a lot scarier than they are in Halo 3.
Swine flu "outbreak" is scarier.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

It was the Covenant...

while it is most likely the covenant, they never said it couldn't be flood. Therefore, flood cannot logically be ruled out as an option

With your logic it would have also been an army of Michael Jacksons taking over Reach. It was the Covenant because if it was the Flood they would have been mentioned.

Do you really think no one in the entire UNSC Army saw the enemy they were fighting? Not a single person?

How could anyone think the Flood attacked Reach? Just how?

Yea. I had swine flu, wasn't that bad. It sucked when I had it but I only had it for a night and a day, seemed like the regular flu to me.

Stop PMing me if you are group recruiting.

There's not much we know about the Battle of Reach, really. We know that the where 200-300 Covenant ships and only a hand few where ripped up by the orbital Super MAC cannons. We know that there was a Covenant super carrier present and that the orbital MAC cannons were shut down from the planet surface. Other than much more of that, there is a huge room for a story.

Can you believe it?

That's just silly. It would make no sense for the hunters and scarabs to have better cannons since Reach is before the Trilogy.

one thought crossed my mind NO -blam!- FLOOD ON REACH regardless if bungie wants to go by the book or not, flood would ruin the story.

I'm not talking about a large Flood outbreak like the High Charity in Halo 3. I'm talking about a small outbreak that may happen if ONI had been doing tests and experiments on the Flood.

There could be a mission where you would have to secure/destroy the ONI HQ, in order to keep the Covenant from getting a hold of UNSC secrets, and stopping a small Flood outbreak.

It could work and would make sense.

Also, does anyone hate the marines immaturity as much as I do? It would be nice if they sounded disciplined instead of a bunch of college frat boys. Their dialog is annoying and not even remotely funny. Every time they open their mouths I just want to shoot them in the face.

you speak the truth about the marines. but i still disagree about the flood since reach is set like a week before halo ce how would they know about the flood if the flood hasnt been discovered. (it is true the spirit of fire discovered flood before halo ce but it is obvious that they hadnt made it back to tell the unsc about it) and If ONI did know and hold flood they wouldnt want it on a populated planet such as reach witch was their main military planet.

  • 10.19.2009 3:05 PM PDT

Yes but it would be the ONI HQ, which I think would be the most secure and guarded one. Also, the Spirit of Fire first contacted the flood on a separate planet I believe, and could have sent data to the UNSC database before they destroyed the planet.

These little details would not matter to much if they were changed.

Keyes was very deep into the ONI basket as was Halsey being extremely high up there. If there were any information on the Flood, I doubt Halsey would have let them enter the Forerunner construct on Onyx for fear of an outbreak.

that planet that had flood on it wasnt occupied by the UNSC and i dont think the UNSC had the technology 20 years before halo to send information or messages through slipspace

They had to send subspace messages. There were slipspace pods which could send messages rapidly, but those were based on planets such as Reach, Earth and a few other main UNSC worlds.

No, they need to launch them from the planet if I recall correctly. It was a last ditch communication system which was used by ONI for highly important and need to know information. Such as informing Sigma Octanus of an impending Covenant attack (I need to reread this book I probably have a few events mixed up).

yeah i need to reread to get what happened when, im terrible with dates (no pun intended) and i need to reread what is the process of slipspace communication because it kinda confuses the hell out of me.

I have some friend in the army and from there stories it really is like that when they are on there armybase(barracks).

Marines are like the army in the halo verse.

Yeah, I understand what you mean by that because guys usually mess around when there is serious stuff going on. It is fine in real life, and is anything but annoying, but in Halo, it is beyond annoying.

Maybe it would work if the main character said anything but he doesn't. It somewhat worked in ODST because each character was a protagonist and I didn't find them annoying when they joked around with each other.

It's not just the marines dialog that sounded annoying, but it was in fact the voice actors as well. None of them sounded serious and it would be nice if there was some dialog like "Suppressive Fire!" or "Cover Me, reloading!". I know they did this in ODST but that was the protagonists that said that, and not the marines.

Share your opinions/ideas on how to make the Marines sound better.

And for the Flood:

Would my scenario be possible? Would it be likely that ONI would be testing the Flood, or would they even be able to be testing the Flood? I would assume they would send one of those pods, because the Flood are a serious threat. Also, anyone else notice that Captain Keyes kind of knew that there was Flood from the helmet cam? It has been a wile since I've played Halo Combat Evolved, but I do believe he sounded like he expected the Flood to show up.

Anyone else have ideas on how the Flood would be incorporated into Reach?

about the flood: The Spartans were trapped inside the castle facility and the covenant had scarabs trying to dig them up. get this in your head FLOOD CAN NOT WORK WHATSOEVER.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

Right now, we are in the real world. Cannon has the same basic rules, rules such as linear timelines. What you must learn is that these rules are no different from that of a computer system. Some of them can be bent. Others, can be broken.

Full marks to whoever gets the reference.

But seriously, what I just said is true. Canon, is often, in itself, not canon.

If gaming goes down, they'll use a Bungie to bring it back up.

I think they should put a more treacherous environment than Halo 3's environment. Scince the explosions, they should put more places you are able to fall into. In Halo 3, in my opinion, there weren't many places that are dangerous. Also, Fighting elites was fun in Halo CE, and I would love to have that expirience again in a whole new game. So, Halo: Reach is Bungie's last Halo game? That stinks. They have gone so far. Now it is gone. Must be terrible for them. Well, yeah.

Thus

New Cannon overwrites Old Cannon

They shouldn't let the books hold them back on what may be the greatest Halo game. They can't have the greatest Halo game without one of the major enemies.

You can have the greatest halo game without an enemy that hasn't been discovered yet. no there is no flood on reach and there never will be. spirit of fire never sent a message and doesn't have one of those pods. if spirit did send a regular message it would take a good hundred years or so not 20.
