Bring them back? Yes? No? Maybe?

I always thought they were cool in Halo 2.

The current version of XBL does not support clans that I'm aware of. It's a microsoft thing and not Bungie.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Perhaps within the game, yeah. Being able to associate yourself with a certain group of friends would be cool, and going into matchmaking and being able to see that the entire other team is in the same clan shows that they might actually be somewhat good, if they play together much.
Yeah, that would be cool.

Yes it is spelt like that on purpose.

I don't believe it's microsoft that made the 360 not work with clans, look at games like Chromehounds. I believe Bungie made a choice to get rid of it, why exactly however I am unsure.

My bad, I looked back through a little history and I think the clan thing was specific to Halo 3.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

A little thing called the Xbox 360 happened since Halo 2. When they built an actual system for live other than matchmaking, they took out clan functionality.

I could swear that I've seen Shishka say that clans were'nt coming back, but I'll be damned if I can find where he said it or if he was just talking about Halo 3 only.

You're telling me that the xbox 360 is less advanced than the xbox? Look, the old LIVE didn't support clans either. Each developer could add what it wanted to to their game, just like Bungie did in H2, and like some developers still do. No, it's not MS LIVE supported clans and you don't access it from the MS dashboard. It's really just like a second friend's list. Nevertheless, it is a good way to keep track of a group of people if you so choose.

I think Call of Duty 4 had a clan system. I remember there was a button called "Clan tag" I think.

I think a nice clan system for Halo:Reach could be in order, but make it more than just another list of friends, have some damn clan features. Like unique logos, Clan Service Tag, et. Have a playlist dedicated to clan teams only.

Don't make me nibble your bum...

If it's anything like the CoD4 system, then NO!!! That's nothing but a chance to add four characters to your already overlong gamertag. >:(

If Halo: Reach is going to have a clan system and if not, it should. Then it should be the most advance clan system ever heard of on consoles. They didn't make one to Halo 3, because they didn't try to improve Halo 2's clan system and add cool features into it fro Halo 3, their focus was more on the game.

Too often, people post on forums and just regurgitate what they've seen already and don't really explain their own views. - achronos

It really needs clans, they were great on halo 3 I'm still friends with alot of people from my H2 clans. I hope they bring them back.

Its the same thing as a call sign. Anyone can edit their "clan tag" to whatever they want.

Exactly and this is why if Reach is to have one, you have to join the clan to get a clan tag at all. I think it'd be interesting if they had a Clan Logo set representing their status in their clan, which would replace your own logo.
