I have noticed that the subject of the BR is a big issue on this forum. So, i found alot of the ideas people had and put them up here in one place.

Notes:
the 1 shot versions would have a rounds per second limit like the carbine, but maybe a bit faster firing to make up for less power.

The AR could be a auto fire when squeezed, or 1 shot (headshot capable)when tapped weapon, like many modern assault rifles.

For those who may not know, the BR's 3 shots spread out in H3 and each one can score a headshot. this means that you can strafe across the head and get a good kill, instead of aiming precisely. in my opinion, overpowers it at all ranges except for point blank.

what about this

I would like to see the AR
1. louder
2. more accurate in auto and in burst- in burst it realy should be just as accurate as the BR and in auto it should be reasonable like the ODST SMG
3. dose more armor damage and less shield. there was a point in time where it took 8 shots to drop the shield and 9 to kill--- head shot would be nice
4. an aim mechanic that makes the reticule smaller and gets bigger when you sustain auto fire; similar to "RFG"
Note- not using iron sights.

this would throw it out of balance with the BR however

i still think the BR should be more practical than the AR at longer ranges. so i would like to see the SEMI AUTO BR. it would make a little more purpose built like a tactical sniper rifle instead of a different type of Assault rifle.

i would balance it this way
Because you have to Burst with the AR at longer ranges the BR wins but up close you could lay on the trigger and hit every time with the AR so the AR should win

good ideas 'cept for the bigger reticule, this aint CoD. if you go 2 a map with water and fire at it auto with an AR, you can see the bullets going outside of the reticule at Med. range.

I was going for something like "RFG' the AR in that game works very well, and would work very well in halo.

I would like to see the Semi auto BR from the halo 2 announcement, but i also like the burst BR from halo 3

so what if there were two different types of Battle Rifles. the BR55 and the MA5K carbine. and to prevent Balance issues have only one of the two be default for certain maps Ex: have the MA5k on smaller maps like Guardian, and the BR55 on bigger maps like Sand Trap

replace the halo 3 BR with the MA5K. give it the same properties of the Halo 3 BR. or edit little stuff like 1. make it louder. 2. make a little weaker 3. increase the Fire rate to the Halo 2 BR


And make the BR55 semi auto. yes it would pretty much be the covenant carbine, but i like the Idea of a human weapon that works as a basic accurate Rifle that not quite a hand howitzer

i mentioned this problem
too avoid weapons clutter
what about balanced weapon sets
one that plays like Halo 2
one that plays like Halo 3
and another set is completely new

Second acct: RC Zerg Rushes

There needs to be a do-it-all medium/long range weapon, similar to the BR and the M6D. I'd like to see the M6D given a rifle skin. My fervent hope is that Reach will incorporate the CE philosophy, specifically the weapons balance and skill gap parts. To fufill that a weapon similar to the BR and M6D is needed. Also, the netcode needs a major overhaul. I'd suggest Bungie talk to the Halo 2 Vista team, because H2V has excellent netcode and registration.
