"Go then, there are other worlds than these."

Less advanced translators and all. Anyone think it will be making a comeback in Reach?

Anyone miss it?

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Hmmm. I'm on the edge.

After seeing the Halo2/3 Elites it could be tough to adapt to that nothing meaning nonsense. Then again it fits the timeline and was cool in 1st game.

It depends, if Covenant could be understood somehow I'd be fine with it. Cortana intercepting their messages? If they're just newly unknown enemies, no. They started to speak english so they could have a story afterall.

by the beard of Zeus

Bungie better stick to the facts, The elites became 100 percent less threatening when you could understand them

I think that they should have the game start off with the Covenant speaking their language, then as it progresses, you receive a translating device, so you can understand what they same.

However, not understanding them would be a lot cooler and make the game harder.

For example, the Elite says, "Sedanerg!"

A second later 7 plasma grenades a chucked at you. Then you realize that whenever an enemy says "Sedanerg", you know that a barrage of grenades will be tossed at you.

I think it will make players pay more attention to the enemy, and would add depth to the game.

Cortana could of course translate important Covenant communications, relevant to the story, just like she did at that one holo-terminal of the Prophets speech in Halo 2.

But for in-game battles, I felt having the Elites speech being like it was in Halo: Combat Evolved would be fun again and would keep with established continuity.

Trying to figure out what the different sayings meant added to the fun. Once I figured out that "Wort, Wort, Wort!" meant the Elite was ordering the troops (grunts and jackals) to advance (it's what "Go, Go, Go!" sounds like when reversed) I knew when I heard it, while trying to be sneaky, that I'd been spotted.
