Since some of Reach was a space battle I think Reach gives a perfect opportunity to let us use the MAC cannon at one point in the game. Basically, to my knowledge at least, the MAC cannon for those who don't know, is sort like the UNSC's trump card when it comes to weapons. Its a very powerful cannon that UNSC ships use, and they are very powerful. I want to say they are sort of the UNSC's equivalent of the covenant's orbital bombardment or glassing except weaker.

Anyways I think it would be cool to be able to operate one of these in some sort of space battle.

Why would you have to. One A.I has control of like all of them, don't they?

I sense I had my idea stolen from a sarcastic post I made yesterday.

Hell why not I know lets just have a base on each map where we can call in a MAC blast too i'm sure that'll sort the Scarab out (not to mention the enemy team if you drop it on their spawn (and i'm pretty sure it's like a high grade nuke so it'll definatly leave a crater destroying most the map, that'll be fun!)).

But seriously it's a bad idea but with that said it dose have flaws and weakness'es to be exploited though i'd say if anything it's only for custom games I mean the last thing you need is all the kids who scream and cry when they lose to flip even worse when the enemy team gets the 'God' Vehical.

The Gauss Gun is basically a miniature MAC Cannon.

The MAC cannon fires wasted raw material (neuclear I belive) the Gauss Gun is a laser similar to the Spartan Laser.

Halo has a very detailed engine so its size restricted. as awesome as that sounds i just don't think it could be done

"Go then, there are other worlds than these."

This could actually work in a campaign level: Shipboard AI controlling the MAC cannon is taken out and the player has to fend off the attacking Covenant ships by manually aiming/firing the MAC cannon long enough for shipmates to abandon ship.

It's doable, if Bungie wants to go there.

MAC stands for Magnetic Accerator Cannon. It magnetically accelerates ammunition (usually depleted Uranium, for it's denseness) to high muzzle velocities.

Gauss is a unit of magnetic flux density equal to 1 maxwell per square centimeter i.e. a Gauss gun accelerates ammunition using magnetism. So it is essentially a small version of a MAC.

Wrong, the Gauss gun fires a large slug via recoils. The MAC cannon fires slugs of ferrous Tungsten (metal) or depleted uranium.
