Subject: Buck.. Seriously?

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

(Dare), who I'm sure was put in to the game since Cortana would not be featured, and fanboys needed something to fap to.

Congratulations, you just made your entire argument invalid and the rest of your post obsolete.

And believe it or not, there are plenty of people in the military who act like Buck.

Yeah, the ones who sit behind comfortable desks and haven't seen a planet being glassed or watch their own friends being vaporized. Catch my drift? I'm not trying to feed the flame here..

And I only mentioned Dare to point out that Bungie feels the need to add a female love-interest to games that don't necessarily require them.

One of Bungie's objectives with ODST was to add a more human feel to the Halo series. Romance is a pretty easy way to secure a more human feel.

It does not require it, no. Halo has NEVER been about romance (sorry for those who believe Chief loves Cortana).
Would a man go through hell and high water if he didn't really love her? I'm pretty sure he does love her or at the least deeply care for her.

I hope Nathan Fillion hurts you.

Me too. And I hope he brings the entire cast of Firefly with him.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Oh, he certainly cares for her there is no doubt about that. But what I meant was a love relationship. Like dating...

He does not like her like that. They have a bond only they could form through combat together.

Didn't I see this exact same thread in the Halo 3: ODST forum (without the last paragraph)? Oh yeah, I did!

Yup, you did! Only because this thread applies to both games.

You want a more serious Halo game, and I have very little doubt Reach will give you what you want. Reach is, well, Reach. The largest and most important battle in the Human-Covenant War.

I wouldn't like to spend time rescuing a princess when I should be out saving the UNSC and all of humanity.

Oh, no. I thought you meant in that other fashion not a relationship kind of love.

I agree, I want to see a more serious Halo. Halo: Reach needs to be at least as serious as Halo 1 was.

Yup. It was such an ominous feeling to escape the Pillar of Autumn while Marines were being slaughtered as you ran, watching escape pods being destroyed before they launch..

You know what I mean? It really captured the effect of this conflict.

Exactly! The sense of urgency was not there in Halo 3 at all in my opinion, in Halo 2 it was there, but not as much. Halo 1 was just so much better than the others.

If Reach captures that same sense of urgency that Halo 1 did, it will be the greatest game of this generation, by a longshot. It will compete with Halo 1 as my favorite game of all time if it captures that same sense of urgency.

I couldn't help but snicker. That would be hilarious! (Let's bring in Harold and Kumar for the hell of it).

I thought Dare looked like a man and the romantic relationship was a joke. I would have liked more fighting and less story but thats just me.

Actually he risked his life to save her because in Halo 3, she was the only one with an activation index that could activate Installation 04 (II). So in saving her, he fulfilled his duty to protect the UNSC from external threats. If he already had an activation index, he would not have gone into High Charity to get her, since that mission was pretty suicidal, and he had no Intel whatsoever either.

He treats her well because she did save him numerous times (See Halo: Fall of Reach + The Flood) and MAYBE because she reminds him of Dr. Halsey.

But yeah, Everything here, except -blam!-, Geeky little no-lifes trolling, is true.

Nathan Fillion is ok...but any actor is only as good as his lines.

Wrong. There are no small roles, only small actors.

You can do an awesome part with only 1, or a few lines. You could also phone it in with a few lines. Same goes for someone with a large amount of lines.

Actors can change their lines, especially in video games were actors generally have time to improvise anything they think their character would say.

Hey troll, stick to one forum. Why put this same thread in another forum? You made this post in ODST where it actually belongs.

I am not a huge fan of the Buck character but the reason that we don't really like him is the reason why people like him. He, like the Master Chief, is the traditional hero. And he has a face, a proper voice. He may as well be the main character.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Where's Patrick Stewart in all of this?

He's seen everything. He's seen it all.

And as for the guy who said that the only reason the Chief went into High Charity was to get the Index is wrong, Spark could have taken him to the Library, and it would have been a lot safer. He went after Cortana because he made a promise, and intended to keep it.

I agree. There's nothing less immersive than fighting some aliens, and having an NPC shout something ridiculous.

Save the funny stuff for the IWHBYD skull - make the actual campaign somewhat serious.

I thought Dutch was the one who played a more significant role at Reach.
