Subject: Buck.. Seriously?

Impossible is Nothing.

Without getting too into it, I'll just say this:

While Buck was not my favorite character, the line 'You know the music, time to dance' was awesome. That's a classic already.

Eh.. debatable.

He's overconfident, making him have the need to make jokes.

I think the characters fit right in the game.
Do you even pay attention to the serious parts in the game because in ODST it really brought on the emotion in the haloverse.

You're saying they're serious when they need to be?

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I would have been your daddy, but the dog beat me over the fence."

You have a good point.

I found that too many of the characters in ODST where walking clichés. I hope that when/if Buck does make an appearance in Reach (Which would be cool), he isn't so unoriginal.

I felt that in ODST, to say he was a veteran of one of the most horrific wars humanity had ever known, he was a bit... easy going. In fact, the only time he seemed to express any realistic feeling was when he commented on the Covenant cruisers glassing New Mombassa.

Personally, I liked Buck.
To me, he seemed harsh and to the point with his team, yet that seemed like a false front he puts up to keep his squad in line and under his leadership. The comedy is just his way to cope with whats going on around him, and it seems more realistic then constantly bringing up how close you came to death, that's just depressing to think about all the time.
He seemed like a character that was hiding his true colors the majority of the time, attempting to control his squad and cope with war by putting up different personalities. Bits and pieces of who he really is only show up when his squadmates are in danger, such as when he jumped the Brute, disregarding how much larger it was then him, or when he goes after Dare.

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

The ODST's are lame. They're not as serious as they should be. They're nothing like the real Helljumpers of the 105th.

Maybe that's because they aren't Helljumpers from the 105th.

I make a legitimate thread on the most logical choice for the next Bond actor, and you take that away from me by creating a parody thread indirectly connecting my thread to yours.

I hope your kids have bad influences and develop bad personalities. I wish this with all my heart.

Buck's had a tough past, which is hinted throughout the series. Plus, most of his lines, especially during cutscenes, involve him grunting. Nobody complained about Master Chief's "corny" lines. "Sir...finishing this fight."

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

What he said, and the OP is an idiot. If you've ever been in a traumatizing combat situation there are usually two major ways you deal with it: Either give a beretta a -blam!- or use humor to mask your true emotions. Also I wasn't very big on the whole romance sub-plot but it was still pretty darn good.

Well, this IS a Halo game, and during fighting, there will be some funny stuff. This is Bungie's way of making games, not too serious. And the fact that Captain Hammer is playing as Buck is just -blam!-ing awesome.

well you cant take the glassing of a planet and genocide serious when you have a dumb ass character like buck randomly firing off retarded jokes every 30 seconds

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

I know but I would still like them to be a little bit more serious like the 105th Helljumpers in the books but still keep that slight sarcasm.
