If you recall back to Halo 2, and ODST, there was packs of ammo for specific weapons around the maps. Usually campaign maps. (The only multiplayer map that comes to mind is Headlong, which had sniper packs) But I'm talking about SMG and Magnum ammo packs.

They were usually found laying around on outskirts and metropolis, but they had a purpose. Bungie didn't have to throw an extra sniper into a level, halfway through, because they could just put a pack of ammo on a rooftop, so if you kept your sniper that long you would be awarded. It made dropping those weapons harder, because you know that while they were useless now, they would be useful later on.

That also means less cluttering. While weapons are larger, and sometimes take up more space, ammo packs are small. It looks much better to have a couple of packs of ammo in a corner, than a few random BR's.

Having Ammo packs in Reach would be great, especially in multiplayer. Let's say you're making an infection map. You only want there to be ONE sniper, but you want that sniper to be able to use the rifle longer. If you scatter ammo packs around a map you won't have to worry about other humans picking up snipers, as the current system requires you to place more guns, to get ammo from them. (By placing the ammo packs in Forge, not just set on the map no matter what)

This would allow weapons to be used more often, but by having their ammo around the map, so multiple people aren't picking up the guns. (Get what I'm saying?)

My proposal is pretty much asking for your options on Ammo packs in Halo: Reach, and your thoughts about them in multiplayer, not just campaign.

Ammo packs are always welcome to me.
But it should be a Forge item for Halo: Reach.

I think that ammo packs should be available in forge. Maybe even add battery packs for plasma weapons. Usually ammo packs are better for power weapons though.

The plasma battery is a bit of a stretch, considering you can't reload plasma weapons. However, I think you should have been able to place ammo around. Putting them in high traffic areas would ensure that there is much of it to go around. The level would be much less cluttered.

@Geegs30

Don't forget Coagulation. That had sniper and rocket ammo packs lying around in certain places.

Good idea. However, if you read the Manual it says it is unknown to the Humans how to change then Battery Packs tin the Covenant Weapons...

Come to think of it why can't the elites in multiplayer reload their plasma weaponry? :)

In Halo 3, There was no sniper ammo, only rocket packs.

I still don't know why Bungie got rid of ammopacks in Halo 3.

Someone get the ghost. I call warthog driver. We need someone to get the laser before the other team does. I need a gunner. . . . . No wait- . . . . I NEED A GUNNER . . . . oh . . never mind. I'll just splatter people. <"SPLATTER SPREE">

The only way to get ammo packs in Halo 3, is by modding. And mods aren't allowed

very good thread

but you forgot the other types of ammo packs like needler and rocket. I believe the brute shot did have those two not 100 % sure though. OH duh

BR and AR ammo packs

you should edit your post to include those in. You'll seem more proffesional and like you've been here since one, hence getting more resect from the community.

thanks for posting this

They rule in recycling plastic

And yes they should come back. Makes people carry empty weapons through levels.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Yes please. I wondered why did they left the ammo packs out of Halo 3.

In H2 if you had a power weapon, you would keep it and look for its ammo but in H3, you use up all of its bullets, grab another gun and go camp the weapon's spawn point if you want it again.

I think you're missing the point.
