Subject: halo knife, it may work

OK, so Iv seen some threads about a halo knife, and most people say its a bad idea, mostly because it probably wouldnt be able to penatrate spartan, elite armour, or shilded enamies. But what about the energy sword, it uses high heated plasma energy to penatrate through shields an armor. what if they had something simaler for humans, something like high heated metal, or maybe a knife powered by hight electric qontities that could penatrat armor somewhat like a powerdrain.

Please discuss this idea and improve apon it if needed

The last time I tried to make a quote, a car smashed through my wall and the tire hit my grandmother in the other room. But for those of you who can haz once more between five, I say it will be five between seven divided by zero multiplied by Chick Norass and Broce Tee.

First of all grammar please.
Second of all the shields only deflect temperature (heat) and fast-moving projectiles.
What about the shields disappearing when getting punched, you ask? Well, that's because the shock going through the armor disrupts the shield system causing it to deplete. In essence both punches directly affect you and not your shields.

Therefore the knife is plausible, because for all we know the gel layer of the armor could or could not stop a knife.

Very nice, and sorry about the grammer, I was in a hurry

And if such a knife kills in one hit why is it not in future Halo games?

Shotgun is the human's melee range weapon. They don't need a knife.

I can understand a knife and think it would be cool in campaign. However i simply feel that it would be much more of a hassle to put in most game types then it would be worth. I could also maybe see a knife in a new game type that focuses more on stealth. I would rather for the most part if it stayed out of MOST game types.

I see what you mean by this.. but no...
No such thing is ever mentioned throughout the Reach novel, which could be an advantage in its' own in the sense that because nothin like that has been mentioned, it could leave a door open for such a thing to exist, but this would contradict with the fact the only form of knives used be the SPARTANs are Combat knives used to kill Jackals and Grunts.

well are you talking about a weapon you pick up like the energy sword, or are you talking about something like "Section 8" where you press a button to stab

because option 1 would be for the sake of having a Human sword, i think the shoot gun is better, don't bring a knife to a gun fight and all bizz, but people like that kind of thing so i would not mind the option

option 2 however, i would mind, because in campaign the melees are for knocking an enemy back so i could shoot them; which i would like to see in MP, how ever it just would not fit with halos game play

Maybe it would be used for stealth missions, like killing sleaping grunts and sliting throats of jackals in order to get through to another area

  • 10.19.2009 3:11 PM PDT

Energy sword = really big combat knife.

  • 10.19.2009 3:12 PM PDT

liek omg u guyz...

omg ponies (ok ya it aint that bad imo)

GRRR IM RIGHT UR WRONG AND GHEY LOLOLOL UR GHEY

lova ya internet, never change :D

A knife would work but would be redundant due to the energy sword, which will most likely be usable.

Or you could just walk past the sleeping grunts. Guards tend not to get freaked out if you leave their comrades alone. Besides, knifing people leaves blood trails, simply meleeing them from behind works much better.

but why not give the OPTION of a HUMAN Sword,
Dose the Beam rifle make the Sniper redundant

Does the Beam rifle make the Sniper redundant?

Great point. Also the sword is a 1 hit kill. So why not have the human knife be one too?
That, OR the energy swords damage could be reduced with range differences and the human knife does a 1 hit kill but cannot lunge?

  • 10.19.2009 3:23 PM PDT

Maybe instead of a knife we could have a sword eqaul to the enery sword.

It should be noted, that their was going to be a human melee weapon, (the UNSC machete) but it was cut, but it still appears on the difficulty icons for selecting for the difficulty of a campaign level. (Normal displays one machete, heroic and legendary show two machete's)

  • 10.19.2009 3:25 PM PDT

That would be difficult purely because the shotgun could be used even more easily to kill a sword wielder.

But although the beam rifle and the human sniper both fill the same niche, they accomplish it in different styles.

A human sword would just be redundant, first because it would work exactly like the energy sword (correct?) and second because the shotgun already fills humanities need for a melee ranged weapon.

They almost did that in the first halo but it got cut. The model they had was the campaign shield sword you see. That's also where they got the difficulty level sign idea from.

YOU'RE STILL ALIVE?!?

What about like how they did it in Star Wars: Republic Commando? Whenever they melee a retractable knife comes out of their wrist and stabs them.

I think it would be cool if your Spartan whips it out for assasinations and he hits ih the spot where the black spandex material is instead of the armour.

I loved the game for that reason alone.
But then again Bungie can't because of that reason.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Keep the knife for cut scenes, not for game play.

It's not an instant-mele weapon. You have to pick it up like the sword.

Does it kill in one hit? If so, it seems redundant with the sword.
Does it kill in two hits? If so, it seems pointless compared to any other gun.
