Let's make Reach more "competitive". Any ideas are welcomed!

Maps
First of all, map selection, it has to be all arena maps, but nothing like Midship or Warlock. Nope, they need to be 12 X 12 rooms, Covenant and Human, with no cover whatsoever. No Forerunner, too much random geometry, which is bad. This makes the game a lot more fast paced, after all no one can run away, so they have to fight. There has to be a ton of Sniper Rifles scattered everywhere, because it's awesome. And there is one Rocket Launcher-like weapon in the middle.

Weapons
The Sniper Rifle should be hit-scan, 2 shots to kill (One headshot) with no spread or recoil. The only skill weapon in the game.

The Shotgun needs to be only useful at 2 inches, always, to prevent it from being a Noob Cannon.

The Rocket Launcher needs to be nerfed, it's too much like a noob tube. Blast radius should be at 1 and a half feet, makes it take more skill and precision now.

That's it, three weapons. No randomness, all skill.

Melee
Melee should be removed, too nooby.

Grenades
Only Stickies, with a 10 inch blast radius, it takes more skill this way.

Gametypes
Slayer, CTF and Oddball, because they take skill and MLG uses them.

Also, unlimited flag bouncing.

So, in conclusion, this would make Reach the most competitive game ever, and it would take skill to play. This would satisfy the clear majority of your fanbase, and MLG.

So remember, square rooms, snipers everywhere, with shotties and rocks, and only stickies.

Thoughts?

In case you haven't realized this by now, I'm just kidding around. I'm just making fun of all of those "ultra-competitive" type of people. Hope you had a good laugh, if not, oh well.

bungie has proven that a bunch of monkeys sitting in front of keyboards can randomly type out a masterpiece. the thing is, when you go to play the masterpiece, you cant help but notice all the monkey s**t smeared all over it.

it gets real old having to wait months for someone like mlg to clean off all the monkey poo.

look at halo 1 and to a lesser extent, halo 2 for competetive ideas.

these fail worse then halo 3.

Why, there's no randomness with my suggestions. Halo 1 and 2 were random, thus flawed.

Dr. Gelato, MD.

That would turn quite a majority of people away.

Seriously. You've made the game user-friendly to the people who are "Complaining" that H3 isn't competitive.

What about the rest of us?

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

I don't like your ideas. Doesn't seem it would be fun...sounds more like a Halo 3 Forge map friends can fool around on.

And the melee, I like the Halo 1 melee, because it was most difficult to actually get a hit (unlike Halo 3).

I am expecting much more important things from Halo:Reach than "competitiveness." I want the game to be creative, varied, dynamic, interesting, and fun. Challenge is good too, but most of your ideas seem like it would make Halo:Reach boring. No offense. :)

I don't want to join your group.

Agreed, a little too obvious and heavy on the sarcasm. Though the real joke would be if your serious.

I prefer to think of this as "Poking fun at the ultra-competitive type of people". I'm surprised that people took me seriously, though. I was being very obvious.

I support MLG.
I support Flag-Running
I support BR
I support non-broken gameplay

I do not support the AR.

What about the rest of us?

Like what Blizzard is doing with Starcraft 2 and what other games have done before, Bungie's developers need to work with the pros so that there can be competitiveness, but then work around it so that more casual players can enjoy the game as well.

Yeah the satire is pretty obvious. It was still funny though.

Sanity is subjective.

1. In my opinion MLG is a bunch of idiots who take the game way to seriously.

2. MLG is a minority in the gaming world.

You know what? I would not be surprised if people actually agreed with me, even after I stated "I'm just kidding around".

Now, I've seen a lot of people post how Halo 3 is lacking in the competitive aspect, and how Reach needs to be much more competitive. From what I've gathered, and my own personal input. Now, nothing is random which very competitive people like.

That's it, three weapons. No randomness, all skill.

Gametypes

Also, unlimited flag bouncing.

In order to make Halo Reach more accessable to everyday people, here are some changes that should be made.

Maps
All maps must be like Assembly. Lots of random geometry of the same color, with hammers, rockets, shotguns, swords, and overshields everywhere. Also, all doorsways, floors, and walls need to have extra useless bumps on them to mess up people trying to bounce frags into rooms.

Weapons
The BR needs to be removed. Its too hard to fight someone against it, rewards skill too much. Also no headshots, gets you killed to quickly. And you should be able to duel wield rocket launchers. Also make auto-aim/magnetism very high so good aim is not required.

Melee
Make melee lunges super long range.

Grenades
Make grenade explosion chain reactions crazy so that even if you throw a good nade it will get blown up for no reason. Super random.

Gametypes
Gametypes should be zombies only.

Equipment
Put equipment everywhere. That way if you are getting shot and get scared, you can turn that fear into a reflex of pressing X and throwing down a bubble shields to camp in with a shotgun, or a regen to just mess up game mechanics.

Yes this was a joke as well.

Why, there's no randomness with my suggestions. Halo 1 and 2 were random, thus flawed.

getting in an ar fight where your crosshairs take up half the screen, and where your bullets dont even stay in those crosshairs after 20 feet, causes random wins and losses. littering a map with half a dozen power weapons and a handful of equipment and powerups results in random wins and losses. being able to just sit in one corner of a map with a tiny lead while the opponants having no realistic way to break the setup causes random wins and losses.

carefully thinking out the positions of a limited number of map appropriate power weapons encourages agressiveness and teamwork.

ensuring power weapons provide an advantage, and not 5 free kills allows balance.

spawning players with weapons and tools that let them legitimately outplay lesser opponants and not simply trade kills allows skill.

adjusting maps so each area has its own advantages and disadvantages and no single section is too dominant encourages tactics.

octagon is fun and has alot of competetive merit, it doesnt cover all the bases.
