How did Sergeant Johnson manage to survive Halo CE? At the end in Legendary, he was fighting the future Arbiter for an Assault rifle. Then as The Pillar of Autumn blows up he hugs the Arbiter... then the Halo is destroyed, how did Johnson get off Halo? There were no ships around or anything... ty, ... im not sure if this is the Arbiter but thats what i was told.

I miss playing Halo with my friends.

Why don't you try asking in a different forum.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

I can't give a real answer but I think it had to do with the fact Sgt. Johnson was a well liked character. See, they weren't sure if there would be a Halo 2 and they were going to kill him off in the first one. As soon as they realized Halo's success and Johnson's popularity, they decided to magically bring him back

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

Flew off on a Pelican with Sheila Polaski, Corporal Locklear and Leiutenant Haverson.
The legendary ending is non-canon btw meaning that it is not part of the actual story but rather just a joke.

Read First Strike.

bungie has proven that a bunch of monkeys sitting in front of keyboards can randomly type out a masterpiece. the thing is, when you go to play the masterpiece, you cant help but notice all the monkey s**t smeared all over it.

it gets real old having to wait months for someone like mlg to clean off all the monkey poo.

it was johnson's twin?
cloning technology?

or a story i just now made up:

since humans are required to activate the rings, and johnson would have been the last known surviving human to the sentinals, it makes sense that the sentinals/guilty spark would have then taken it upon themselves to preserve his life so he could potentialy activate the other rings. so, a random sentinal/spark shows up and teleports him out of the blast radius of autumn. (why not? you see them teleporting in halo 3, and we know guilty spark and gravemind could teleport chief around at will)

thus, outside the autumn's initial blast he could have survived on one of the mammoth chunks of ring still intact. many of which would potentially have the mass to sustain an atmosphere, even in the broken state. (even if it didnt, the ring was built with massive gates and quarantine zones everywhere, separating the segments in airtight compartments. not all could have been destroyed.)

spark then goes off flying into space (as seen in the final cutscene) makes contact with humans using data he gathered from the autumns library. spark then either arranges for whatever forerunner forces remain to reunite johnson with these humans or convinces these humans to go to the halo wreckage and pick up johnson (counterfeit emergency beacon perhaps?).

he does all this in the hopes johnson can convince humans of the threat of the flood, and get them to do something about it. guilty spark knows other rings exist, and his primary function is still to get them activated. to do this he knows human cooperation will be required.

slightly afterward, spark gets captured by the covenant while once again flying aimlessly through space. then halo 2 starts.

Duh,He is Sgt. Johnson

I wish I was still legendary.

It's not the canon ending. The arbiderk was *probably* in orbit at this time.

The canon ending is that Johnson, along with warrant officer polaswki, some ONI dude and an ODST escape in a pelican and hide on a piece of rubble. The chief picks them up and they take over a covenant supercarrier/destroyer (not sure which) then fly it to Reach. Eventually it gets really badly damaged, after a considerable amount more fighting, and they join it with a UNSC hulk and fly away.

At some point they get to Earth, not sure when - but they go to Reach first.

And there we have it people, Halo: First Strike in a nut shell.

Sure it could be explained better but its good enough.

I would encourage ALL Halo fans to pick up a copy of 'Contact Harvest' 'Fall of Reach' and 'First Strike' and read them in that order as it is in chronological order. as long as you remember Halo: CE (or Halo: Flood) goes in between 'Fall of Reach' and 'First Strike'. the entire Halo storyline will make sense. But start with CONTACT HARVEST for the love of god, do it!

The Snow Leopard's wisdom includes: Understanding one's shadow-side; trusting one's inner-self; agility; strength; the ability to stalk; understanding the power of silence.

This makes me think Johnson will be in Reach, and somehow in Halo 4 if they make it.
