Which phantoms do you want to see in Halo Reach ?

Halo CE Spirits

The origonal phantom (Spirits). Drops units off from the sides by opening the doors. And only has one turret.

Halo 2 Phantom

Phantom in halo 3 has a grav lift at the back and 3 turrets.

Halo 3 Phantom

Halo 2 phantom but the 2 side turrets now inside the phantom. Units can get out at sides instead of just the grav lift.

Halo Wars Spirits

Halo CE Phantom. But instead of opening doors it beamed them out (well sort of). And only had 1 turret.

Thanx for your time

My favourites have to be Halo 3's ones...Just saying, in Combat Evolved, they were called "Spirits", not Phantoms. :)
Also, considering it's before Halo: Combat Evolved, it'll most likely have Spirits in it.

Not likely. Phantoms and spirits co-existed. Spirits are more of a utility transport, and phantoms are used for military or combat applications. The use of spirits on Alpha Halo was for emergency military applications. The only reason spirits were used on Alpha Halo was due to the fact that the operations on Alpha Halo were mostly excavations and the Covenant fleet did not expect any extreme military operations to take place. Phantoms were likely on Alpha Halo, even though we did not encounter any.

In Halo 2 we see phantoms at the first battle of Earth since it was more of an attack, however you can still see the unpreparedness of Regret's fleet by deploying a mining scarab into combat in the first few hours of the landing.

Now, Reach was a planned attack force. The Covenant would have brought more combat-ready equipment such as the scarabs we see in Halo 3 and ODST, as well as phantoms. If we see a spirit it won't be dropping off troops regularly, it will be delivering supplies to a Covenant base, or something along those lines.

I'm doing this for the Lolz.

Now now children they will probably have both Phantoms and Spirits because if you read the books they do include Spirits(Tuning-fork shaped ships) and Phantoms (Long, bulbous, ovoid dropships).

just saying,
the spirits from HW are the same as the spirits from HCE, and phantoms weren't used until halo 2.... so we'll most likely ONLY see spirits.

It might be because you're wrong...Phantoms and Spirits weren't around at the same time...The Phantom was an upgrade to the Spirit...

No, it wasn't. The difference between a spirit and a phantom is the difference between a C-130 cargo and an F/A-18 fighter. The same difference as the mining scarab in Halo 2 and the combat scarab in Halo 3.

Unless you're not referring to cannon and actual progress on the games. Yes, Bungie made a cooler looking drop ship and needed an excuse as to why they're all different now. However, as far as the story is concerned...

Taken from Halopedia on the spirit:

The DX-class Dropship, otherwise known as the Spirit, is a Covenant infantry and logistical transport craft.

Taken from Halopedia on the phantom:

Unlike the Spirit Dropship, Phantoms serve more as troop transports than cargo transports.

Yes it is spelt like that on purpose.

Well I think it is really up to Bungie as what makes the most sense in gameplay. But if it were to follow timeline it would be more like Halo:CE. Personaley I think Halo 3 did it right for phantoms but thats me.

It really does make me sick when you people talk about things you're so disgustingly ignorant about.

Didn't a black chick or something just get elected president of the US?

Just so you know, they had Phantoms at the time of Halo 1. I just double checked the Halo Graphic Novel.

/facepalm at this whole thread.

Personally, I think an actual "skilled" person in Halo 3 is someone who knows how to win with every weapon and combo in the game, not just a single weapon like the BR, Sniper, or even the AR. Of course, that excludes me, as I have yet to get a kill with dual plasma pistols. :D

A combination of CE and Wars Spirits sounds good, able to both use a grav lift or drop people off through the sides.

If I could write off your murder I'd save all of my receipts. Because I'd rather you be dead than lose a tiny shred of what I made this fiscal year.
