The armour that the 5 above in the banner are wearing is most likely mark iv because if you look at it all of them accept the one on the right is wearing a belt with grenades or something on, Here. and in this picture of mark iv we can see the belt.
And for those of you who say the one on the far left is an elite, to me it just looks like a spartan looking up because you can see the ridges in the helmet which would be at the top of the visor.

If the game goes back before the actual battle of Reach then yeah it could be Mark IV but when the battle of Reach actually happens the Spartans all had Mark V.

That is actually a valid point, most of the body shapes do add up to that armour model.

It's possible that the Mk. IV was tested with shields, and that some Mk. IV suits had experimental shielding. However, the Halo Wars Spartan armour is more a lookalike of an experimental Mk. 5.

Well I heard Bungie has a new armour for reach only they can have, maybe it's Mark III or something maybe even older, but it still has all the abilities of the newer ones.
