Subject: Next Step For Halo's Gameplay?

I AM THE GREAT BOBALUGA

The only game play innovation that would benefit Halo instead of diminishing it's uniqueness is ACTIVE RELOAD.

The new feature would perform just like it has in previous games. Players would be given a chance to speed up their reload time by timing their active reload well enough.

Halo could put it's own spin to it with using a different gauge for active reload. The Gears active reload it just a bar above the ammo, I think Bungie can get a little more creative.

I don't agree with a damage boost, just a quick reload. And of course if the player times the reload wrong his weapon will jam.

Your thoughts?

By the way the new game Darkest of days had an active reload that is displayed as a circle around the players reticule.....

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Gears of Halo?

Gears and Halo are far from similar. Having one feature in common does little to prove that they are alike.

I like the idea but to me I just think it would add a lot of confusion and would not fit into Halo's gameplay. The reason I saw that is because when your reloding everyone will be focusing on the reload instead of the game (Halo involes a lot more thought than gears IMO), such as we all know you can beat down in the middle of reloding, but if your to focused on that it will cut back. To me I think active reloeding should stick with Gears and such bu atleast its a decent idea rather than playing as brutes.

Reloading will become a second nature activity on Halo just as it is in Gears. I dont think it will draw too much focus away from the games other game play elements.
*edit*
Plus it adds another faucet of skill in Halo. I know many people who want BXB and BXR back in because they thought it was more skillful.

it is a good idea (it's made me forget what mine was) but i agree, it just doesn't seem right.

I see where your going. I could see it maybe in the Halo series. It would add more "skill" to the game. Because while other players are focusing on the active releod, you have it timed and dont need to look at it. So I think it can go either way.

Equipment was received fairly well in Halo 3. Some was cut out of matchmaking and multiplayer as a whole due to lack of support towards some like flare and radar jammer.

I think active reload would be a more cohesive fit to Halo's game play than equipment was.

He watches every Hodgetwin video they put up...on ALL their channels. He calls them the Hodge Triplets, and considers himself the 3rd triplet. He's started talking and acting like them now. Every other line out of his mouth "Thaaas some BULLLLLL**** maaayne" or "Gotta make dem gainzzzz". He calls his biceps "gains". When he eats post-workout, he talks to his biceps, "Don't worry gains, I'm feeding you. Daddys gonna feed you, gainz *kisses biceps*".

I like active reload for Gears of War (in fact, that is about the ONLY really good thing that has come out of that franchise so far), but I honestly do not think that it would work for Halo. Here's why: as Cliffy B himself put it, GOW is a stop and pop game. Halo is a shoot and scoot game. In GOW, when you're reloading, 80% of the time, you are not jostling for position or anything. You're holed up behind cover, planning your next move, and reloading while you do it.

In Halo, when you're reloading, 80% of the time you're still making your moves and on the offensive. Halo is a constant action game where you really do need to basically ignore reloads, because you rarely get a break. GOW is a non-constant-action game where you have time to settle down and focus on getting that active reload.

Once again, I love active reload, I just don't think it would be best in Halo for those reasons.

Good point. If Bungie can get the timing right and have the reloading smooth and quick I think it will be a welcome addition.

Don't hate... ...loathe.

No thanks. Spartans are masters of there craft and have masterd the act of loading a gun.

The reload time of weapons is a specificly set thing that helps with weapons balance. Changing that could be very disruptive.

Alright hotshot since you are so clever how about you explain why its such a "horrid" idea.

  • 10.21.2009 12:16 PM PDT

I'd have to say we already reload extremely fast. There isn't much need for it.

The only game play innovation that would benefit Halo instead of diminishing it's uniqueness is ACTIVE RELOAD.

lets take a look at this.

the only gameplay innovation that would benefit halo is active reload? uh soory but active reload is no longer an innovation, its a rip off.

instead of diminishing it's uniqueness?lmfao. So taking stuff from other games will not diminish uniqueness? hmm
