Personally, I think an actual "skilled" person in Halo 3 is someone who knows how to win with every weapon and combo in the game, not just a single weapon like the BR, Sniper, or even the AR. Of course, that excludes me, as I have yet to get a kill with dual plasma pistols. :D
Brutes, unlike their Halo 2 or 3 counterparts, would be clad in metallic, unshielded armor adorned with blades, similar in style to their vehicles. This armor would be color-coded to denote rank [iron color is minor, silver is major, gold or bronze is ultra], and would also include a helmet to protect them from being quickly dispatched by headshots [as in BR, not Sniper]. Of course, helmets and specific parts of their armor can be destroyed, though you have to keep firing on this part instead of just using an EMP.
Instead of being field commanders like in Halo 3, or bodyguards like in Halo 2, Brutes would be deployed as platoons of highly-trained shock troopers, carrying assault weaponry designed to dish out large amounts of damage at any cost, like Brute Shots. Like in Halo 2, if a Brute is the last member of his pack, he will beserk, though it will be formidable again [unlike in Halo 3]. He will bat objects out of his way and maul anyone near him, making a beeline for the person responsible for killing his comrades.
So, would this be a good design for Reach's Brutes?
