Subject: Would this be a good design for Brutes in Reach?

Personally, I think an actual "skilled" person in Halo 3 is someone who knows how to win with every weapon and combo in the game, not just a single weapon like the BR, Sniper, or even the AR. Of course, that excludes me, as I have yet to get a kill with dual plasma pistols. :D

Brutes, unlike their Halo 2 or 3 counterparts, would be clad in metallic, unshielded armor adorned with blades, similar in style to their vehicles. This armor would be color-coded to denote rank [iron color is minor, silver is major, gold or bronze is ultra], and would also include a helmet to protect them from being quickly dispatched by headshots [as in BR, not Sniper]. Of course, helmets and specific parts of their armor can be destroyed, though you have to keep firing on this part instead of just using an EMP.

Instead of being field commanders like in Halo 3, or bodyguards like in Halo 2, Brutes would be deployed as platoons of highly-trained shock troopers, carrying assault weaponry designed to dish out large amounts of damage at any cost, like Brute Shots. Like in Halo 2, if a Brute is the last member of his pack, he will beserk, though it will be formidable again [unlike in Halo 3]. He will bat objects out of his way and maul anyone near him, making a beeline for the person responsible for killing his comrades.

So, would this be a good design for Reach's Brutes?

Golf Wang. Brony.

You mean they'd look like Megatron from the Transformers movies?

For the most part I agree with what you're saying.

  • 10.20.2009 3:25 PM PDT

I would perfer Halo 2 Brutes.

That wasn't what I was going for, but now that I looked up a picture, sort of, only a bit more tribal and less mechanical.

Here's a better idea, no Brutes.
Well, in this idea they aren't useless bullet sponges or mediocre Elite replacements. Maybe they'd actually be good.

Spartan119 the Red Raven.
"So officer tell me how it feels to be at the wrong end of that barrel?"

i like ure idea and think that it would fit the brutes better with this as there main focus.

they jus need more health, better armour destruction, make it so u dont have to knock of there full suit to kill them. and to just well... make them more savage and cruel.

but yes this is a good idea...

and yes there most probably will be brutes in reach cause well bungies not gonna throw away an entire race that is good in theory.

  • 10.20.2009 3:37 PM PDT

i don't know why people want to get rid of them, more variety is always welcome.

i like your idea, i always wondered why the brutes looked so different from their vehicles and weapons, that tribal look is something i wanted the brutes to look like, but instead we got elite-wannabes in halo 3. shieldless is definitely the way to go that way they wont be the same as elites. more like halo 2 brutes (which i love because they were very unique)

I am just some guy who likes video games

There are no brutes on reach -.-

  • 10.20.2009 4:21 PM PDT

Heres an idea, this is before the brutes even really fought, there will be elites

  • 10.20.2009 4:26 PM PDT

I agree, and infact i've thought of this myself as well. To respond to the others who don't think brutes should be in halo reach, why not? Just make them rare enemies and make their behaviour much more different from the elites. Its good to have a variety of enemies. As long as they are not the halo 3 brutes.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

The H3 brutes look the best from what I have seen.

  • 10.20.2009 5:20 PM PDT

I'd love to see brutes but Elites would sometimes kill them if they were interfering and the brutes would just kill them if they were mad. Also some sort of Brute carbine. Maybe a big knife from the end a bruteshot a unique brute would use. They should also throw big things at you (rocks, pieces of vehicles and other things.)

Who Dares Wins

there won't be any brutes they first appeared in first strike before halo 2. they were new to the covenat

You realisticly can't not have Brutes- I mean they WERE in Halo all along as far as the story is concerned- but they should be a rare enemy type. Plus they are an interesting enemy if they are made the way they were in Halo 2 as far as how they fight.

  • 10.20.2009 6:48 PM PDT

Brutes weren't new to the covenant. They have been with them for quite some time, but they probably weren't used in combat due to the elite's dislike of them, and because they were thought to not be able to use tactics.

For all you know Jackals could be the main enemy in Reach.

  • 10.20.2009 7:06 PM PDT

Charging in and destroying everything is still a tactic, and it worked fine in Harvest. But for Reach where humanity actually plans on fighting back with its full military force, the Covenant will use their heads.

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

Hell, for all we know, space octopi could have been the main enemy.

I like how you described the brutes and their armor very much. However I would rather them be bodyguards or forces mainly sent on suicide missions, then highly-trained shock troopers.

*Bobfather17*

They should be more brutal. Seem ready to charge at any time. Move to your position as a pack. Charge as a group if there are 2 or 3 left. Use grenades and weapons that aren't especially awful.

The brute metal armor idea sounded pretty cool. Maybe they should get some sweet moves from the VidDoc like pulling the arms off of a marine or flipping a Warthog with their hands. Either way, they should be scarce with Elites being the main enemy.

Is it really that hard to figure out? Alright I'll make it simple.

Brute armor = Covenant design
Brute weapons = Brute design or Covenant design
Brute vehicles = Brute design with Covenant technology

  • 10.20.2009 7:27 PM PDT

I agree that they need a new armour design.

Also I don't want them to be 'tactical' if you know what I mean. That's the Elite's job. I want the brute to be all-out nasty, he won't care about anyone else, he'll just straight up run towards YOU and won't stop for anything till he's dead or you're dead. I want them to be... brutal.
