I have a problem with the current ranking system. I love halo, but i just find it's ranking system to be a little retarded. For example, my friend is a general rank in MLG, but his highest skill in it is only a 30. Thats because his teams always sucks, but still he should deserve to be a 45 at least. Heres another example, when my friend and I played team doubles together, i was a 33 and he was a 20. I ranked him up all the way to 32, but they only ranked my up to 34, and i know that because we only played team doubles with each other. It's just so frustraiting, so bungie please change the ranking system for Halo Reach.

Make the ranking system like your campaign scoring. WE grow levels by gaining points, just like in Cod or Gow 2. And those points become our exp. And like bonus points for like headshots, sticks, ect. ANd maybe even some challenges like Ninja MAster(getting a bunch of assasinations) or sniper marks men(getting kills with a sniper rifle/beam rifle. MAybe to make us playing for a long time, you can make us prestige just like in Cod, once we reach level 50, but unlike Cod, we got nothing to lose(well maybe except for armor or unlocked challenges).

So please bungie i urge you to change your ranking system, because it is just so frustatingly unreasonable sometimes.

PLease comment on your opinions and ideas of Bungie ranking system.

i know, but if you read my second story, the ranking system does start to sound a little unreasonable, how come my friend ranks up about 12 levels while i go by only 1. taht is so unfair and we only play team doubles with each other and we usually win.

"Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases." -Thomas Jefferson

Bungie needs to get rid of the "more exp makes it harder to rank up trueskill" stuff. The whole system to place people into a correct skill set is based around people not getting better/increasing their skill, when people do. This is why people create second accounts and quit out of games, and all kinds of other annoying stuff, so they can start over with low exp and get a skill level as high as they truly can.

this might, just might take out boosters. i don't know how, but it seems taht games with ranking systems like Gow or Cod 4 doesn't have a problem with boosters. Maybe it's because the teams are always unfair in those games.

I dont like the call of duty ranking system. It just seems to me that it doesn't take your skill into account as much as how much you've played. You could be a higher rank than another guy just because you've played 20 hours more than the next. I mean any time you can level up when you lose just doesn't make sense to me.

YES THE RANKING SHOULD BE BASED OFF YOUR OWN SKILL NOT YOUR TEAM AS A WHOLE. (because you cant carry every noob that gets carelessly picked to be on your team)

  • 10.20.2009 8:53 PM PDT

How do you measure skill? By personal in-game performance or the team's performance? The amount of kills or deaths? The variety of weapons used or the difficulty of the medals earned?

Besides the Truskill system belongs to Microsoft.

C'mon, bake me a pie.

{EDIT} Guy above bet me to it xD

The true skill system is Microsoft's, not Bungie's.
You rank up as you win. Simple yes?
There maybe be some minor faults in it but it seems pretty correct to me.

P.S- Gears of War 2 had the same "true skill" ranking system when the game first launched.

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

It still does. So does CoD, Forza, Madden, and top spin 2. EVERY online 360 game has the same truskill system.

No, True skill is when your win a game, you level up.

CoD's and GoW's ranking system is points, doesn't matter if you lose you can still level up.

OK, maybe its good if your good at the game.

But it has flaws aswell.

Say i suck at CoD,(which i dont)I could get to any level i wanted, it will just take a lot of time. So i could get one kill every match, and slower work my way up in levels.

I think the ranking system is fine as it is, and if you complain about having sucky team mates and losing all the time, get your friends together, and own.

Simple

It's like Bungie doesn't want me to level up. Everytime I do, they throw me game like objectives in LW or Shotty Snipers in TS. I end up losing my level 2 or more times. Thank you Bungie.

I hate how I've won 9 games straight in Snipers and my 39 hasn't gone up to at least 40. I lose one game, I'm down to 38. I think they should make it easier to gain your level if you win a lot and not lose that level from one loss. I don't think people would like the CoD ranking because its based on points. A level 55 commander can be just as skilled as a 10th prestige commander.

Most kills in the world with the Storm rifle in halo 4, the Plasma Repeater in halo reach, and the Plasma rifle in halo 3.
check out my youtube channel

i think they should because its to easy for bk to gwt to 50s in halo 3

Still uses trueskill to match people up for games.

i've been hearing a lot of people talk about true skill ranking system. i don't know what it is, but i do like the cod 4 ranking system and if thats what the true skill ranking system is, then i say halo reach should go with it!

  • 11.08.2009 3:01 PM PDT

There is nothing wrong with Halo:Reach. We all just have our gripes about everything we don't like. Not liking something doesn't make it broken.

I prefer the Ranking systems CoD and BF use. You just acquire experience on performance.

The experience gain each match comes from how 'Credit to team' you are. Good teammates rank up faster.

Is it easy? Yes. Is it fair? Sure it is. Will it destroy most of the Rank Vs. Rank BS that makes up so much of everyone's thinking? I think it could.

I don't see the reason for a visible true skill ranking. It just causes arguments and blind hate. It even causes rage quitting when someone doesn't pair with the proper true skill randoms.

True skill needs to be hidden and Experience ranks can replace them. No reason it can't and it wont hurt a thing. True skill can do everything it already does even if we can't use it to judge everyone.

People say this crap all the time. True skill's flaw is with the user base, not the system itself. People manipulate the data, but in general, it should be a good system. The problem doesn't come with not getting to where you should be. You are NEVER limited in how high you can get by this system. Only your skill limits that. However, with multiaccounters, you can get higher than you should in the trueskill system.

I could link to all of your games, but that would be tedious. From this game, starting off as a 40, to the around the day you posted, your record in snipers was 46/51. You did have one streak where I think you won 5-6 in a row and didn't move up to a 40. That being said, true skill's purpose is to only increase your level once you've proven you deserve it.

I don't know the difficulty of players you played when you won, but choosing three random games each from the wins and losses, the wins I saw were not impressive (they were typically lower ranked than you) and the losses weren't enough to really bump you down much (playing against higher levels). That's why you hovered around 38, 39, and 40. The fact is, you didn't prove yourself. This isn't H2 where you win 3 games against scrappy teams and automatically go up. You need to prove that you deserve to move up, and you just didn't.
