Subject: Is it just me or do you hate it when people havent read the books?

I really hate when people try to speculate about the story or plot of Halo games, especially Reach, when they havent read the novels. Its because they clutter the forums with stupid questions and ideas that can instantly be answered with the books. Anyway just feeling a little pissy right now. XD

I see where you're coming from, i've only been on the forums for a couple of days and already i've seen several theories that don't work when compared with the books and it can be annoying seeing these obviously (for those who've read the books) wrong theories.

But some people don't enjoy reading (even when it's Halo :O) and i for example only found out about the books a long time after i started playing the games so it's possible some people just don't know they exist? In which case we must raise awareness because they're amazing!

lol i know what you mean. Like Halo Reach everyone thinks its going to be war from the start. But if its based off the book then it will be showing hasley doing the SPARTAN-11 project ...etc.

Mate, it drives me f***ing mental when some incompetent turd comes along and starts spitting out complete BS theories.

I hate the BR debating crap gets me really annoyed, the whole "oh it wasnt in CE, so it cant be in Reach" drives me nuts. If they had the brain and willpower to actually read the novels starting with Contact Harvest, they'd know that the BR was prototyped and tested in 2525 BY SGT AVERY JOHNSON!!

And the reason why i can 100% tell you why the BR will be in Reach is because the VERY first Covenant casualty was killed By Sgt Johnson weilding a Battle Rifle.

Enjoi Pandas Skateboard now you know why i have Panda for a avatar

THEY HAVE BOOKS ON HALO WOW LOL ROFL

  • 10.21.2009 3:52 AM PDT

It also pisses me off that every comes on here with retarded theories and ideas that can not only be answered by the novels BUT CAN EASILY BE ANSWERED BY DOING A SIMPLE SEARCH ON HALOPEDIA!!!!

  • 10.21.2009 3:54 AM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Stupid theories as they are - yes.

But I feel the books are stupid addition. Things become like Star Wars: too big for anyone to fully understand, creates lots of silly arguments and takes the focus out of the game. Developers leave plotholes because they know they can cover it later, which many won't ever know and which reduces the mystery and use of everyone's own imagination.

Comics, Legends, Halo Wars... If they hadn't written Contact Harvest which says there were BR's - my god people would get angry if Reach had it. "There were no Brutes on Reach"...

"It's a game" fits perfectly. In my eyes all other Halo stuff is fanfic and license products

See you on the battlefield.

That does tend to get annoying when you can answer the fiftieth stupid theory with "no, it's in chapter x of y book".

As for things about Brutes and BRs, my opinion is that if the book says nothing about them, then they can be added without mucking things up too much.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Nope. They never realize that either. The "the game will be based on the book Fall of Reach" theory is as bad as all the non-canon theories out there.

Bungie and Bungie? Del Ray Books Published the first few and now Tor Books but the publisher has nothing to do with this. Bungie commissioned them and gave the fabled "Halo Bible" to Nylund. As for Dietz and Buckell chances are that it was also the same.

Yeah, I hate the idiots. Even if they haven't read the books, the least the "Halo 3 onlys" can do is check up some facts on Halopedia.

'i hate the idiots' because some people dont want to read books there idiots ?

  • 10.21.2009 5:31 AM PDT

No, I hate them because they think they know all about Halo when all they've played (let alone read) is Halo 3's MM.

Ive read all the books and i love them ^_^

the little short clips they have out are no doubt pretty cool. but i wouldnt watch an entire movie unless bungie produced it. none of this hollywood BS.

in the mean time, reading the books, playing campaign over and over, and collecting stuff (still gotta get my hands on that RC hog)is what floats my boat.

  • 10.21.2009 6:05 AM PDT

Why wouldnt they coincide with the books? Just about everything that happens in the books and the current games match up correctly. Also the people who wrote the books were given the Halo Bible with all the plot stuff in it.

I don't read because reading is boring and I can't keep concentrated.

I bet the Master Chief comes and saves Reach!!?!? Then the Covenant glass the sun!!?!?!

  • 10.21.2009 9:39 AM PDT

I haven't read all the books but i've from some stuff on halopedia and played all the halo gamesso I know most of the story. That doesn't really annoy me, but what really annoys me are the people who have only played halo 3 and know nothing of the other games and start saying a bunch of -blam!- theories that don't make any sense.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

No, alot of the events in Halo 2, ODST, and Halo 3 contradict eachother.

Refusing to read for what ever reason only keeps you ignorant and with out a place in the debate.

It is not like they are very long or even hard to read. They are written for the 4th grader to understand.

I wouldn't say I hate them or even call them idiots, even if the shoe fits. Ignorant would be the term I would use. As it is thier choice to remain so.

Aside from that, I agree it is getting very old very fast with the constant threads with no actual substance to them.
