Subject: Is it just me or do you hate it when people havent read the books?

Why wouldnt they coincide with the books? Just about everything that happens in the books and the current games match up correctly. Also the people who wrote the books were given the Halo Bible with all the plot stuff in it.
No, alot of the events in Halo 2, ODST, and Halo 3 contradict eachother.
Care to name a few?

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

1. The Arbiter, Johnson, and Miranada Keyes arrive at Earth and manage to get a secret base setup long before the Master Chief arrives at Earth. At the end of Halo 2 the Master Chief arrived at Earth first.

2. Brutes present at New Mombasa when there were none there in Halo 2.

3. Ark portal nearly uncovered at the end of ODST when in Halo 3 the Covenant did not uncover it untill the events of Halo 3.

There are two things on this forum that piss me off;
Idiots and group invites.
What's even worse, is that I can never seem to get away from either of them ¬_¬

I've never read the books but I have come up with some pretty good and likely ideas in regards to the plot of Halo: Reach.

I understand where you all are coming from, but just because they have yet to read the books doesnt mean they shouldnt be aloud to have theories. I mean when most people think of Reach they think of a major battle where alot of spartans die and a planet is basicly wipedout. With that information alone you can make a theory that would make sense.

And there is a great thing about forums that you guys should use, when you see someone posting a theory, dont read it, if you start reading it and can tell they have not read the books, stop reading it. If you forget about it, it will slowly go away, and you wont have to deal with it again.

But again im not blaming you guys, some people have horrible ideas even for people who have not read the books. But, people who have read the books have some bad theories too, and pretty much ever one I have seen so far is missing 2 key points, both being the spartan 259 that is never mentioned in tbe books, and a reference to Nova One, which im not sure since I just started reading the books a week ago, but i believe that its not mentioned either.

Sigh..

1. First, Master Chief entered Sol at about the same time Miranda, Sgt J and the Arbiter did, before flying down to Earth and being knocked out for the night. During that time, M, S and A would have managed to get the base up and running, remembering that Crows Nest was already built and active.

2. You do realise that when we enter NM in Halo 2, it is long before we enter NM in Halo: ODST? In that time, the Brutes obviously took the place of the Elites.

3. This is the only one that is even slightly correct. While the end of ODST is close to the beginning of Halo 3, the only problem is that the final cutscene takes place three months later, which is impossible. But even so, that's nothing.

You've failed to prove your point.

None of those are hard to fill in by yourself.
1. The timeline isn't linear. Surely Arbiter didn't spend time in teleportal state when Chief raided High Charity. Maybe Arbiter and the others left towards Earth before the Dreadnaught left High Charity. Plus Chief spent some time on the ship.

2. After the slipspace jump Brutes led by Truth arrived at Earth. There was a 6 hour break. Truth could have ordered his troops to arrive earlier as well.

3. Nearly? Maybe it took longer than expected to uncover the rest, maybe Truth didn't want to uncover it early...

Of course, the wide audience demands a book that explains everything. Then the book will be the only truth, which is... bad. Everyones' experience is exactly the same.

1. The Chief spent 9 days inside the Dreadnought when it was travelling through the Sol system. Enough time for Arby&Co to make it to Earth and set things up.

2. We didn't see them, but that doesn't mean there were none of them. The city might have been divided into grids for the different Covenant after the city was taken over, with Elites concentrated in the suspension bridge sector and Brutes elsewhere.

3. Accepted.

1. Forerunner ships are FASTER than Covie ships, and Johnson/Keyes/Arbiter were on DeltaHalo when Chief left with Truth. J/K/A would still have to travel through space, and somehow beat Chief to Earth.

2. I could understand brutes at night, as the rookie. But PLEASE, explain how the hell so many brutes were in new Mombasa directly after drop. (aka Buck's mission) Did a secret cruiser slip in and drop off the brutes than leave within the 45 seconds it took buck to land?

3. Give a good reason why Truth would want to wait.

I really hate when people try to speculate about the story or plot of Halo games, especially Reach, when they havent read the novels. Its because they clutter the forums with stupid questions and ideas that can instantly be answered with the books. Anyway just feeling a little pissy right now. XD
Mate, it drives me f***ing mental when some incompetent turd comes along and starts spitting out complete BS theories.

I hate the BR debating crap gets me really annoyed, the whole "oh it wasnt in CE, so it cant be in Reach" drives me nuts. If they had the brain and willpower to actually read the novels starting with Contact Harvest, they'd know that the BR was prototyped and tested in 2525 BY SGT AVERY JOHNSON!!

And the reason why i can 100% tell you why the BR will be in Reach is because the VERY first Covenant casualty was killed By Sgt Johnson weilding a Battle Rifle.

Agreed, I think the BR was used for the entire 27 years of the war, and the BR that Fred finds in Castle Base is the SR model that fires more efficiantly that is used in halo 3. But since it was still being put through testing the marines on earth only had the original model

With B.B. gone, the passion of Bungie.net has lessened.

I don't really hate it. Bungie hasn't made reading the books a necessity. It's just something that makes the games a little richer if you have. Chances are, Reach will either follow The Fall of Reach to the letter (which would make a really short game unless Reach is to be a chronicle), or will be a side-story completely separate from the novel, with little tie-ins to reward those who have actually read it.

I've stopped hoping for really strong novel tie-ins. We would have seen/heard about the other surviving Spartans in Halo 2 if Bungie were going to go in that direction...

oh oh oh i know!!!

who released the book/s?

who releasing halo: reach?

ohohoh i know STFU.
Eric Nylund who wrote the majority of the halo novels is a writer for microsoft. the books are considered cannon by bungie who is releasing reach. Does that answer your question smartass?

2. Brutes present at New Mombasa when there were none there in Halo 2.

3. Ark portal nearly uncovered at the end of ODST when in Halo 3 the Covenant did not uncover it untill the events of Halo 3.

1. I don't know this one since i haven't read the comics yet so i can't clarify this.

2. You could find many ways to counter this, but yes, seems that the larger part of the Covenant civil war happened later (once Regret dies) and no where do they specify the amount of time they spent in slipspace to get to Delta Halo but I find it hard to believe that it only took a few hours.

3. This one is where they screwed up. Maybe it shouldn't showed them with Scarabs or something digging but not the whole Arc nearly uncovered. I would probably blame poor decision making from the people who worked in the game. That or the fact that they just forgot about the books and were aiming for a broader audience (the ones that haven't read the books... like all the people who have only played Halo 3 which you see always making "dumb" topics due to their ignorance) to have them link the events from ODST to Halo 3 easier.

no, no I don't. But what really grinds my gears is those who think they know how a game should run, but in reality they bearly know what they are doing even getting up to go to school.

i feel your pain, its so pathetic when someone comes and asks "what's reach?" or sometimes "wh4t r b t3h g4m3 reach 4bou7?"

Dude, in among the first audiophiles in ODST, Brutes starts attacking civilains. Clearly there were Brutes in the city by the time even Chief got there.

Exactly one of the issues. Regrets little army was Elite exclusive. No Brutes. Not only were brutes missing from the city in Halo 2, but Brutes weren't with Regret.

Explain to me plz?
