Now, before I delve into this, let me just remind you all that we really don't know much about Reach other then that it is an FPS...so with that said, some of this idea is based on the speculation and assumption that we will be playing as Spartans in the game.

THE IDEA

Okay, so anyone who has played Halo 3: ODST, knows that you have the option to remove the helmet of the characters Buck, Dutch, Romeo, Mickey, and Dare in Firefight. My question, is why this could not be included in Halo: Reach as well.

Bungie created the Master Chief as a universal character and players can adapt to him better if they cannot put a face on him. The player tends to really FEEL like the Chief himself, so it is understandable why we have never seen his face. However...why should this same concept apply to multiplayer models?

Personally, I would love to be able to put a face on my Spartan...preferably my own.

Games like Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 use the Xbox 360's vison-camera in order to map the players own face on their character. The technology is there, so why not use it?

Like I said, this is just an idea...but it is a relatively simple one. Helmetless Spartans in multiplayer.

If the game is played as mutipul(spelling error?) Spartan's rather than one and we all know who they are then maybe.

But personally I feel better not having the ability to remove a helmet it's kinda like without knowing the face you become the Spartan (other than the voice and actual well yeah you get my point) you feel you become the hero rather than knowing the hero or playing as the hero.

That's why it's an OPTION...not a necessity.

No the character models aren't that good and aren't that appealing to look at in general. Taking away helmets in multiplayer makes it feel like COD on crack instead of Halo.

The shield flares would cook your head if you didn't have a helmet, or it would end at your neck and lop your head off. Or you'd die in one headshot. But I'm always happy with more choices. Go for it. It may make your character easier to see, though.

Well then It would be cool if the HUD disappeared

The HUD is a neural interface, like the Marines have. It's not connected to a helmet display.

I dont think the marines have it because they were never Augmented were they?

All UNSC military personnel have neural interfaces.

dude, in odst, even without helmets, they still had visrs. what does this have to do with what you said? well, its a damn game! it doesn't matter if your helmet is off, everyone would be equal, it would just be an effect. as for OP, i think it would be nice to use that vision camera to edit your face into your MP character, what better way to feel like the main character than to BE the main character. also, if they have characters in campaign that show their face, you could just use one of their faces.
