Lets get this straight Reach is a prequel, meaning if Bungie sticks to the Halo lore very few new guns, enemies and vehicles will be added to the game. That's not a bad thing if Bungie is using a new engine to power the game then it shouldn't be a problem after all the assault rifle has many different ammo selections and has a greater range than portrayed in the games, the same can be said for almost every weapon in the game so that's much more variety with the existing weapons. There is a second option that Bungie just flat out breaks lore and adds new stuff that i would sure as hell would like to try. As much as i would like to see new items i think the first option done correctly should be great.

For new weapons they could use the excuse that reach was the military headquarters so there are test weapons on reach that can be used. They weren't in the other games because the planet was glassed.

Edit: i voted yes just for the new weapons. I don't think new enemies could be explained away easily, or even make sense.

oh death was never enemy of ours

well, maybe a few different weapons but no new enemys, because, well, it doesnt make sense at all. canon=good

Halo canon is a joke since ODST anyway. Placing two dead elites in the game does not explain where they all went.

They all went with Regret to Delta Halo. The garrison of New Mombassa was all Brute-commanded so they wouldn't be challenged by the Elites when the Great Schism blew up.

I'd happily accept new weapons, but new enemies are a no. I'd rather have tons of new content for the existing enemies then a normal set of content for new characters.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

Bungie wouldn't have to break the lore or canon to add new things. Look at the brutes. They were added in Halo 2, but have existed in the canon since the first battle of Harvest. The Hornet vehicle was added in Halo 3, but has existed and been in service since the insurrectionist war.

So, it wouldn't require breaking the canon to add new content.

and aliens oni could have covered them up since there were not to many ppl who survied the ground attack and glassing of the planet

Eh, that would be one heck of a cover-up, considering the sheer number of people who would have had contact with the Covies, plus UNSC drones and battlefield imagery. I'm sticking to the "Let's not add any new enemies" idea. If anything, stuff in a bunch more animations and backstory for the existing characters.

Two? On Buck's level they were all over the place, and I found tons of them in other levels. And, a little reading is all it takes to understand what happened.

I agree. I want new weapons, perhaps a few new minor characters, but mainly, I just want to kill elites again!

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Marine Corps.
Semper Fi.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

Only new weapons, NOT new enemies. Canon is very important in the Halo Universe. Halo Wars made a stretch but when you think about it, it does not offically break canon (Spirit of Fire never returns to UNSC controlled space to inform everyone about the Flood).
