In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

Lets get this straight Reach is a prequel, meaning if Bungie sticks to the Halo lore very few new guns, enemies and vehicles will be added to the game. That's not a bad thing if Bungie is using a new engine to power the game then it shouldn't be a problem after all the assault rifle has many different ammo selections and has a greater range than portrayed in the games, the same can be said for almost every weapon in the game so that's much more variety with the existing weapons. There is a second option that Bungie just flat out breaks lore and adds new stuff that i would sure as hell would like to try. As much as i would like to see new items i think the first option done correctly should be great. Bungie wouldn't have to break the lore or canon to add new things. Look at the brutes. They were added in Halo 2, but have existed in the canon since the first battle of Harvest. The Hornet vehicle was added in Halo 3, but has existed and been in service since the insurrectionist war.
So, it wouldn't require breaking the canon to add new content.
