Subject: Equipment in Reach?

Posted by: Driizzy
I voted no. Equipment drove me out of doubles, it just got way too annoying to be shooting someone then they plop down a regen or a power drain. Sorry I just don't want to deal with it again. However, if they balance it how some people in this thread have suggested it be done, I wouldn't mind it.

Equipment has attributed to driving me away from certain playlists as well. Now, the only playlists that I mostly only play are the MLG playlist, Team Throwback, and Team Snipers. Equipment wasn't the only thing to do this though. Overall, I prefer the gametypes and maps of the first two playlists more and the challenge/mix up of Team Snipers.

I like Halo, It kills all sentinel life with sufficient bio-mass... and doesn't afraid of anything.

I think it's a fine idea, as long as it's handled well.

Personally, I really don't want to see Equipment in Reach, but I have a feeling that it will be in the game. If it is in the game, it needs to be redone. I'll provide two examples.

Power Drainer
Rather than continually draining shields, it should be an EMP bomb. When you deploy it, it beeps slowly. As it gets closer to detonation, it beeps faster. When it detonates, it's just an EMP blast. It takes down your shields instantly, and it kills vehicles temporarily.

Maybe it could even interfere with your HUD.

Radar Jammer
It should literally jam the radar.

Just kidding, but back to the point. Rather than having flying red dots, it should cause interference with the radar. Like it becomes very fuzzy, it flashes, etc.

I don't know, Im kind of split. I like it when it saves my ass, I don't like it when it saves someone elses ass form me.

When it comes down to it. I think I like equitment more than I hate it. I think it should stay.

Yeah! Bungie should have added in a map editor to the game so that we could delete objects vehicles and weapons we don't want in our games!

...Oh wait. They did. Its called Forge. What are you complaining about?

Forge is a fantastic tool, but what about people that don't always have a friends list that always has enough people online willing to play non-equipment customs?

Hylebos, I was referring to the single player campaign, although equipment on Matchmaking also sucks.

I wonder why they don't have enough people who want to play a non-equipment custom. Could it be.... that people actually like equipment? Shock and Horror...

I was explaining to car15 that his assertion that equipment ruined Halo is completely false since he has a work around. Just because a few individuals are too lazy to forge a map and find people to play their gamestyle doesn't mean that everyone should suffer for it.

Perhaps a better use of your time would be to make a thread asking for a custom game finder. Equipment isn't going to be removed from Reach.

I wasn't saying that from my personal perspective. My friends list is actually made up of like 95 people that almost all hate to play with equipment. And weather or not you can find alot of people to put on your friends list that don't like equipment and like to place customs without it, doesn't mean that there are going to be enough of them on all the time to play those customs with you while your online. I was just creating an example of one type of person that is being alienated in your suggestions. A custom finder would be great, that I'm not going to lie about, but I would still rather see the game be better overall then in just forged custom games. If equipment were taken out, I believe that it would just make the game overall run much more smoothly. I don't think that it being removed would make a big enough impact for the equipment advocates to really notice it THAT much and the anti-equipment people would just be far less annoyed in most match making playlists. Either way, my poll is still for the most part proving my point. At the time of this post it is 29-33 in favor of getting rid of equipment. And from what I have read, it seems that many of the people that voted to keep equipment still believe that the equipment needs to be changed drastically to balance the gameplay with it.

There are also a bunch of silly people who would rather see all forms of medium ranged weapons taken out of Reach because they don't like it. They really think that the game would run much smoother this way. Should we give them what they want as well?

_______
-...you are a gigantic female genitalia sanitizing apparatus.

MAYBE in campaign but NOT in standard ranked multiplayer.

That is a good point too. The fact is that alot of people bring up alot of different ideas that they that would make the game run "smoother." However, I think that many of the more farfetched ideas (like removing all medium ranged weapons) haven't presented as convincing arguments as I and others have for the removal of equipment. Also, with the removal of medium ranged weapons, do they want everyone just running around and playing Shotty Snipers all the time?

I could care less about if it were in campaign or not. Campaign is fun for the first day or two, but then it's all about the multiplayer. The multiplayer is what will keep and has kept people coming back to Halo over and over again, so I think that anything that can be done to improve multiplayer should be done.
