It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.
I don't think there will be any Flood because of the timeline issues (although technically the first human discovery of the Flood was in Halo Wars, about 20 years before Halo: CE), and there were no Flood in Fall of Reach or First Strike. But I didn't really have a problem with the Flood. I know it's all opinion and there is no point arguing it, but why did so many people hate the Flood? It's almost like how a few months after Halo 3 came out, everybody hated Master Chief, and when ODST came out, for no reason whatsoever everybody suddenly hated Buck and Johnson and was SOOO happy the Master Chief wasn't in the game (although if you think about it for half a second, the Rookie and Dutch basically were Master Chief. The Rookie was the go solo and kill all the Covenant guy, and Dutch was the more "be epic" and "take-a-beating" guy). The Flood were a great part of the story in all three games, and weren't very bad enemies. Sure, in the big rooms in High Charity (Cortana) the ranged forms were annoying, and while you were concentrating on them another combat form would come up from behind and kill you, but the same exact thing would happen with the Covenant (except there were grenade throwers as well). It's almost like people are just searching for a scapegoat so they will have a reason to say that Halo is bad. I'm not saying that this is what all (or any) people are doing, it's just what it seems like most of the time (since most of the time they can't back up their dislike, they just say "I hate them, they're horrible, and that's why Halo 3/the Halo series sucks!" They use Master Chief in the same context).
Sorry for the off-topic on-topic rant. My main point was that I don't really care whether or not the Flood is in the game, just whether or not the game is good (EDIT: and that it applies to the canon, which would mean no Flood in a round-about way).
