If there's a Beta coming out Spring next year, would any of this be possible to include considering that all modeling and animation would've had to have been ready to go by now. Chances are that Bungie would not be able to add in any of this without having to push the release date of the Beta and the game a long way back.

“There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter.” - Ernest Hemingway

Here are just some of my ideas:

I think that the suit damage is an excellent idea, and the longer you are able to survive, the more damage you have. At the end of the game, you could actually tell who was alive and in combat the most by seeing the damage on their suits.

Better punch mechanics would be nice, if it didn't interfere with the gameplay. The Halo franchise is notorious for having a lot of enemies doing something over a large space, so adding some new distraction like punch mechanics might also screw with the game's lag and playability. If Bungie can figure out a way for it to look nice AND keep the game running smoothly, I'm on board.

Jumping mechanics, again, need to not interfere with the game itself. Marines in the Halo games are able to climb (example: On Crow's Nest, Marines will climb on top of crates to get a better vantage point, while you jump 50 feet in the air (exaggeration) to clear the crate wearing a suit that weighs a couple tons. Gravity still applies.

Getting stunned by certain guns would turn this game into a CoD or GoW type of game (CoD: Stun Grenade and GoW Smoke/Explosive grenades and weapon stopping power). The only gun that should even have something close to this description should be the Plasma Pistol that eats through shields. Ripping a turret should also provide some stun effect so the turret user cannot instantly become this walking tank of bullet shells.

Since this is supposed to happen BEFORE Master Chief gets his Armor Upgraded to the beast it is now, with a large shield and quick recovery rate, there should be less shields and the Health system re-introduced to make this tactical, not luck of the draw. Also, when you lose your shields, you should start to lose chunks of armor the more you are shot (losing a shoulder piece if a Carbine or BR hits it after shield lose). This would make it so if a team is going against a guy who is MLG Pro, they could still stand a chance because the more chunks of armor he loses, the longer it takes for his shields to recover.

This is just my opinion. What do you guys think?

Hijacking. It's already badass; let's make it better.

Now, we need to keep the time frame the same as before in Halo 3, and we need to need the time frames the same for every hijack based on the vehicle. For example, say you're jacking a ghost, and you have a sniper rifle. Instead of grabbing onto the ghost right away, you grab the nose of the rifle, smack the enemy off of the ghost and THEN grab it to jump right in. Obviously if you're behind the enemy, you'll simply do the original animation.

Or, if you're jacking a banshee, you will stab the enemy with the sword and wiped them out. Sure it won't make sense that they could live after that, but since when does complete realism matter in a video game's multiplayer?

The damage for every jack will stay the same, the time will stay the same, it's simply just making everything more interesting to watch, and it'd be very cool. Weapon-specific hijacks, similar to Gears of War 2's weapon-specific executions. But these won't cause you to waste 4-5 precious seconds in the open before you die.

I agree. I hate that I hijack everything the same exact way (Exaggeration I know but you know what I'm saying).

srry but sum of ur ideas are kinda... idk goin against halo. like u hit sumone thy fly back 3 yards and cry about ow they didt get thier turn to smack u. sum of these r actually pretty good but keep in mind the core gamplay of halo, sometimes its not the best to be the most realistic game out there. look at NFS Shift! I myself wouldnt really change it too much besides --longer campaign,
-betr multiplayer campaign options,
-make the two for one available in team matches! ( :( only original achievement i dont have),
-custumizable scenerie/time of day/etc options, i ges betr grphics if they can,
-keep dual wieldng out,
-2 discs (one for multilayer one for campaign) is a brilliant idea i luv it,
-AN OPTION SO THAT WHEN U SEE A DEAD BODY IT SAYS "PRESS LT TO HUMP (NAME)" lol YES
-maybe not the last one but it wud be funny...
-environmental items like fog and etc.
note: idc about my spelling, my keyboards messed up and it took me this long to type this as it is so plz dont cry about it

Actually hit a guy when you meele him. Actually swingin a punch at him, making him go a few steps back, and making you bend over a little bit.

Decent jump animation.

When shot by sometihng that shots multiple bullets at the sime time (like a turret) actually get stunned for a few seconds due to bullet impact (that would make the game way more tactical)

Having your suit to take damage, for example: you start with a clean suit at the beggining of the match and at the end it should be full of bullet holes and stuff.

Being able to damage the environemnt. (like an explosion of rockets next to a rock should actually destroy it...)

Throw in some ideas!

The whole point of the really short mele animations is because no one wants to hit the mele buttons and wait three seconds later for the short movie toend. The animations are perfect right now. The thread is a bit insulting actually.

well at least the Melees should look lethal, right now 505 of the time the ARs melee is a 45 degree twist of the wrist. so in reach i would at least like to see them look devastating.

and in my opinion; Melees with UNMC weapons if not all weapon should all be like the plasma pistol melee. I don't see the But stock of a battle rifle hurting 2 ton space marine.

Here is my wants from reach

--Spiker--
The only thing that captured how terrifying spikers should be was the Halo Landfall video. i think it would be cool if you could bolt some poor jackal to a wall behind him.

and with energy shields i don't like how the spike still pierces you even with you sheild up and you take no armor damage so here is a solution

have spike ricochet and bounce of energy shields. it would look awesome. and make the Spike do continuous damage if pierced

--Needler--
i think the needler works just fine for spartan and Elites, or maybe it should go right to armor damage through the shield if it was not enough to explode

but for grunts and jackal and Marines it should be like the second halo wars cut scene where one needle kills--- think about it a needle is a 2 foot long crystal that impales you and then Explodes. one of thous dose not kill i don't what will

--Tracers--
I would like to see the UNMC tracers light up 20 yards from the berral of the Gun EX AR, BR, turret, and Sniper. also with the tracers i would like to see sparks fly of shields, Armor, and Walls

--Plasma--
the only thin that captured how devastating plasma should be was Halo CE and the Book. so when plasma bolts hit Concrete and steal it think it should stick there for a while and let off a lot of sparks and smoke, and be very bright. very similar the light a welder gives off

and as far as it interaction in damage i think it should do continuous seer damage and as far as marines grunts and jackals goes they should be knocked to the groung untill a medic shows up

-semi destroyable structures-
almost everything in the Halo universe is made of better materials than we have to day. how ever i would like to be able to driver trough walls with a warthog, and blow holes out with the rocket launcher. but the structure remains sturdy to accommodate frame rate.

--Bullet Holes--
I would like to see bullets be able to penetrate weak materials. like thin metal and thin concrete. i find it annoying when a peace of 1/4 inch rust sheet iron save someone from a future equivalent of a berret fifty

--Bullets that come out of the gun--
i know it's a small problem but with the new engine i would like to see bullets that actually come out of the guns

nope everything spawns out of you visor; just watch someone fire a brute shot. the only weapons that do spawn out of the gun are any weapons fired from 3rd person, and the laser, but the Laser is fires at an angle so the end of the laser is over your visor

which granted walking around with the setenal beam and being Cyclops is rather fun

I dont really want to have improved animations if they affect the gameplay at all.
Id rather have a fun game than a game just focusing on graphics.

I would actually consider it more fun if I had to think instead of just pressing the B button like a noob.

Instead of having the meele fights that we have now, we'd actually have to use meele in that ONE second that would change the outcome of that battle.

No, but strategic is different to tactical. Strategic means choosing a plan to stay alive and Tactical means planning out the whole thing

animations are the easy part.
i really don't care for super good graphics graphics

Animations do not equal graphics or physics

Animations are like you Melee's, reloads, walking, jumping, and bullets holes other scripted events

graphics is just lighting and, textures and how they interact with each other

physics, interactivity between objects like explosion force, and how you could run crates over and move them.

so if there was -blam!- simple lighting and graphics; destructible environments would be laggless

You do realise that some of the ideas exposed in this thread might actually been used right?

I am an avid gamer with a passion to keep games fun and strategy provoking, rather than simply button mashing instant-reward games that plague the market nowadays. I'm not kind, but I'm rational, fair, and maybe, just maybe, somewhat intelligent.

You need to be tactical sometimes, and I'd like a tactical Halo for once.

Actually having to think before I do a move.

How about we keep Halo the same seeing how its formula is perfect as it is. I want to play Halo, not a realistic shooter.
