I think Reach really needs this for the sake of something new. I think it's a great idea and it'll make the game much more fun. Also, don't start saying that it'll be like CoD, all shooters aim down. The last shooter not to aim down was CounterStrike. Post yes or no and explain why.

EDIT: When I mean aiming down the scope I meant iron sights.

Hell no, this wouldn't work with shields at all. Not only that but it wouldn't be Halo at all either.

  • 10.23.2009 7:59 PM PDT

Uh...since when has halo ever not aimed down the scope? As long as there is one a scope appears when you zoom. Are you talking about iron sights?

You have a static reticule on the screen, and moving doesn't affect your accuracy. What's the point?

It feels more modern and Halo has been the same the last 4 Halo's

Like in CoD, Battlefield, etc.

all UNMC troops have targeting computers or neural up links that gives you your reticule. However this post has so merit because for some reason a Spartan cant get a 1 and a half Foot group at 100 yards with the future equivalent of a HK G3, when i could get a 1 and a half inch group at a 100 yards with a .22lr and using iron sights

an RFG aim would be cool for the Magnum and AR

Also having sights would make the AR and other guns MUCH MORE ACCURATE.

So you're telling me that 1945 feels more modern than 2552?

  • 10.23.2009 8:05 PM PDT

thats cod stuff. And you have a helmet visor, so whats the point? and also theres something called a smart linked scope...

  • 10.23.2009 8:07 PM PDT

Not to mention that aiming down the weapon all the time would probably limit people's movement in the game a lot more.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Yeah, so. That's what Halo has always been. Also Counter-Strike is known as one of the greatest multiplayer shooters of all time.

And if aiming down your sights is in ALL the other shooters, then why wouldn't you want a little variety.

Sorry, Halo is the greatest multiplayer shooter franchise that has ever existed, I see no reason to change the the core aspects of the game.

In theory; the Fact is it's only better than iron sight with a select few guns. the SMG would be far more accurate if you could just use the sights

So all I'm saying is Static sights > iron sights should reflect in game play

Lol, except for the mad kickback on the smg.

1- Bungie emphasizes short controlled burst with Auto weapons; burst with the AR, plasma rifle, and SMG are more accurate but in my opinion not nearly accurate enough. the ARs bullets disappear at 120m the .308 round the gun fires should should work at 600m and for reference the pavement on sandbox is 150m from end to end.

2- I don't know why the .22 cal SMG has a grater recoil then the .308 assault rile

3- the inaccuracy is the recoil why bungie decided to add on upward attitude is beyond me

4- an Aim Like RFG where your reticule gets smaller, you get a slight optical zoom, and the weapon becomes more accurate I believe would smooth out game play, it would still play like halo and still be a static sight.

and would not be out of the way. just replace the binoculars with AIM

Your logic is flawed.

Firstly, it's a video game; the bullets have to disappear sometime, other wise the game would lag so bad you would curse Bungie for it. The programmers did their job and that distance is what they decided would work best. And who are you shooting with a full auto weapon at 400 ft. Most maps don't have open spaces that big.

Secondly, even if those are the correct simulated calibers, the SMG's rate of fire is much greater than that of the Assault rifle, giving your body less of a chance to correct your aim. Caliber size doesn't cause the barrel to ride up, it's the rate of fire and firing mechanism of a weapon like the SMG.

Third, what?

Fourth, that is a grossly inaccurate. If I pick up an M-16, put it on full auto, shoot at a target from the hip Hollywood style, and do the same while staring down the sights, my spread is not going to be any different. The only thing that will change it my ability to accurately hit my target. However, the HUD and integrated aiming system that the Spartans use automatically place a target reticle in the same direction as the projectiles vector, thus eliminating the need to use physical sights on the weapon its self.

Basically what you are wanting to do is put a scope on every weapon, which is just impractical. You don't need it for the Assault rifle, because if you can't use it at the effective range it has right now, then you've got other issues. You sure as hell don't need it on the SMG. And why have a scope on a shotgun that only has a range of twenty feet. Do you see what I'm gettin' at?

"You must be mistaken, Reclaimer. I've met your makers, and they don't even know your name..."

No, because the SPARTANS and Marines all have neural implants that make scopes obsolete, and most of the weapons don't even have iron sights.

  • 10.23.2009 11:35 PM PDT

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Aim down sights would make the game take too long.

The only UNSC weapons with Iron Sights are the H2 pistol, Shotgun, and the SMG

BR's have a scope ramp, but no barrel sight.

And no Covenant weapon has iron sights either.

Opinions are opinions.
That isn't opinion. Static sights are of higher utility than Iron sights. Iron sights you have to line the weapon up with your eye. If the military could implement static sights, they would.

Counter strike is a good game. And it has an accuracy system, so it is more like COD and Battlefield than Halo.

And Halo doesn't have to be like every other FPS. That is why I like it.

And I don't think that any of the Unreal Tournaments or Quakes had iron sights.

Stop being butthurt about people not agreeing with you.
