No, continents dont get wiped out. Not by nukes anyway. Global warming....maybe. Who knows how much of the Earth is submerged. Maybe we have strongholds on the ocean floor. It only makes sense: perhaps before we ventured to other planets we colonized the seas. Does andone else have any intelligible thoughts on this?

if there was another world war that involved nukes that could account for africa not being there

It would be interesting MC went to a city surrounded by water, which you didn't get to see much of in halo. Didn't Frankie mention animals and little stuff like that in one of his updates? It would be cool to see sea birds and fish around the level.

If you could shoot these Sea Birds and fish, I'd be happy!

Wow, imagine being inside of a giant room with various obsticles (like hang em' high) and having glass above your head like a bubble, and on the outside is nothing but ocean. Or maybe i'm just high. I do think what you said makes sense. Perhaps the reason Earth hasn't been glassed yet is because the covenent are looking for something. Something similar to the rock on reach? Bermuda Triangle? Atlantis?

I thought this topic was about "Nations in Halo", not mass desctrution of continents and furry little animals.

What's the difference?

...Oh, right.

Re: Nations in the Universe of Halo, there's no "America" or "Russia" or "Shishbekistan" in Halo's universe because individual nations are unimportant in the storyline which works on a galactic scale. As such, the primary political groups are not countries on the Earth, so much as they are one united government (the UNSC), or, in the case of non-UNSC planets, independant governments, and/or pirates and privateers.

I should explain a little better i guess. In "First Strike" The rock they found on reach had the ability to seemingly distort or transform space and time. If indeed there was a similar rock on earth, where is the obvious place? The Bermuda Triangle. Where does atlantis come in? Maybe the Forerunners are the citizens of the lost city of Atlantis, and they left the rock there. Right under the Bermuda Triangle.

Yeah, there would have to be something more to Earth the Covenamt want. It is our Homeworld thus the root of Human civilization and the hub of our population. If the Covenant wanted to destroy us they would throw everything at the planet trying to obliterate it, not land troops. Africa is the spawning place of all Hominids from where we all came. That might have something to do with the Covenants subsequent invasion of Africa specifically. Maybe there's something their they want. Though Atlantis or the Bermuda would be cooler.

Yeah, Bungie already said they wouldn't do things like this because you almost always end up alienating(sp?) somone. That's why they don't show MC's face, so EVERYONE can relate to him. Except girls.

crossdressing girls can pretend they are the MC to! or maybe for girls who dont crossdress, they could pretend master chief is a really muscular and butch woman with a really deep voice from steroriods!

Or they could think that "she" uses a voice scrambler.
That makes me wonder...
Sometimes when you meet marines, it's only cortana that talks, Master chief is completely silent. Because of that, I wouldn't be surprised if many of the less informed marines thinks that MC is female.

Bungie has dominated the world by that time. :P

Actually, I think the nations are like the states in the US, and the UN is like the federal government.

I would like to see missions searching for forerunner artifacts in all the world's weird places. Like stonehenge, the Bermuda triangle, The Incan/aztec/Mayan ruins, etc.

Yeeaahhh..... (as in I agree with everything) Oh and they did describe Cheif in Fall of Reach him as a child. he had "tousled brown hair" and freckles. So he can't be Asian (sorry Asians : (.
And most Mexicans don't have freckles. And I don't think hes black. LOL
So he has to be caucasian. Sorry non white people : (

but it's obvious why they never say anything... the game doesnt go deep into politics, and the books are from the perspective of the Spartans, proffesional soldiers, and I think Rommel once said something about soldiers not messing with politics, because it's not their job; winning is their job.
