If you have a complaint about the game, just take a step back and remeber how lucky you really are to even be in possesion of it when compared to the millions of people suffering around the world with not even a roof over their heads.
It seems to me that the general consensus is that class based multiplayer is a good thing - you can't really get a more tailored experience in an FPS than being able to pick your poison. Games like CoD 4/5 have shown empirically that given the choice, gamers will not all use the same weapon - simple, its called being human; you have preferences, you can't help it. Certainly, the raging debate between AR and BR starts proves that Halo fans are no exception to this rule. So why isn't it obvious, why haven't Bungie done it yet? The answer: Halo is a competitive game. People care about fairness in Halo, dammit they will argue the toss about hitbox size differences of a few inches, can you imagine the furore amongst the Halo hardcore if they thought that there were some way in which an opponent could gain an upper hand on them from the get go without them being able to do something about it? Well, I'll say right now, I am amongst those guys and I can tell the furore would be unimaginable.
However, if class based multiplayer was taking place in an unranked environment, surely those who care so dearly about fairness (that is, those same people who care about rank) would have nothing to worry about. I think so.
In this situation, the animal urge for a level playing field would be satisfied in the environment where it is strongest, without compromising the ability of people to stick to their preferences. In this situation, everyone gets what they want.
Isn't that the goal?
