Halo is dead. Linked tag is permanently banned from XBL

I'm getting messy framerates everytime I start up Halo 2 Vista and I want to run it clearly. Does anyone know what I should do to fix my messy framerates, and what causes it?

Computer Specs:

Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz

RAM: 2.0 GB

OS: Windows 7

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

What causes it? Crappy porting causes it. Good luck!

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Turn down the settings. Or get a better video card.
Also, how old is your PC?

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Despite the problems I have with H2V, I can get 60+ FPS at 1440x900, 4xAA 16xAF. NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT.

You should consider upgrading your processor.
I think you notice that the FPS problem is not limited to Halo 2 only. Celeron is actually meant for office usage, not gaming.
Celeron is nothing compared to a Pentium 4 ;)
But even after upgrading I can't guarantee that the FPS problem will go away for H2V ;)

Yeah I had a feeling my processor was the problem, is it hard installing a new processor? H2V isn't the only game I want to play.

Your CPU must have the same socket, and must also be supported by the chipset and motherboard to be able to upgrade. Are you on a custom built or pre made (dell, hp type pc)? And if you are on a custom built pc, what motherboard do you have and whats the socket type?

Oh, and running CPU-Z can give you that info.

I have a Dell Dimension 3000 but I'm on my laptop now.

Oh. If you have a dell your upgrade options are limited. Though, you could drop in a faster single core P4 and get higher FPS rates. It just has to be a socket 478 p4 with the same FSB as your current one. Also get more ram at newegg, they have good deals.

Let's break down your specs, yo.

Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.40GHz
This is gonna give you crap with just about every recent game out there. The 2.4Ghz uses Socket 478, meaning you should be able to move up to a more powerful Pentium 4. But this is most likely the culprit, considering the bad porting of the game puts a lot of unnecessary strain on the CPU. I had a Celeron 2.8GHz and it hated everything.

RAM: 2.0 GB
Should be fine here.

OS: Windows 7
Should be fine here, too.

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS
This card's getting over the hill. Not quite there yet, but it's not exactly recent, either. It may be time to move up. It shouldn't go so far as to give you bad framerates in H2V, though, but like I said before: Crappy porting.

yeah the statup/loading screen is a bit laggy for me as well. It only does it for that there (oh and I have a 2.5GHz Intel Centrino processor, 3GB RAM and a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon 3650 graphics) so yes, it is most likely just a glitch with the game itself, aka bad port.

If you can read this, you are looking at my signature

My H2V lags on loading-screens and on big map's.

I know my CPU isn't the problem, here's my specs:

CPU: AMD Phenom Quad 2,3Ghz
GPU: Asus Readon HD 4850
MB: Asus M3N78
RAM: 4Gb(3,2Gb)
OS: Vista SP2 (32 Bit)

more than qualified for H2V but it still lags
