Has anyone ever played Star Wars: Republic Commando? In it you have a squad and with it comes set of commands. See a powerful enemy? Tag them and your squad focuses on the target selected. This idea would work if Reach ad a squad system.
Could a similar system work for Reach? In the novels we read about TeamCOM, a system where each Spartan has statistics about their squad.
What I was thinking was a different versions of the VISR system from ODST. You would put it on with either the X button or with the D-Pad. Enemies and allies are highlighted. Now, with the D-Pad and Joystick you can target enemies or vehicles. Toggle your reticule over said enemy and press a section of the D-Pad thus targeting an enemy.
Using the right and left portions of the D-Pad could also cycle through your squad so you could give individual commands.
Say you have a Spartan with a Sniper Rifle, one with a Rocket Launcher, and one with a Battle Rifle. Target a far off enemy with TeamCOM so the Sniper teaks him out. Respectively target an enemy vehicle so the Rocket man can kill it. The BR guy could provide cover fire for both squad mates if you have him continuously cycle through multiple targets.
Enemies down, move on.
Multiplayer-wise, it could be a great way to help your team. See a far off enemy? Tag him so your team can see it as well.
What do you think?
