[READ FIRST!: Nothing in this thread has been comfrimed by Bunige so dont go thinking this is true, this is just pure speculation]

I know this should go in the ODST forums, but I just thought of something. Over the last couple of weeks ive been hearing about "rumors" saying different things about Reach, for example:

---------------------------------------------------------------
Its going to be a open world like ODST, more like GTA but with the Halo sytle and more action.

Split Storylines like in ODST but at real time like Halo 2's Master chief and Arby missions.

A firefight of its own
---------------------------------------------------------------

Could've ODST just been a test to see what they could do? I mean what if what was done in ODST was just a pinch of might be coming. Think of an open world plain outside of a war torn city with marines fighting charging Covenant forces.

Maybe we might be able to choose what we can fight in firefight like how we change setting in Halo 3's Custom games(Long shot) or a matchmaking system.

What do you think?

i like your theory it seems pretty logical! however if you want more responses you shouldn't start a forum at 6 in the morning...

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

When you think about it just a little bit you realize Reach cannot really be an open world game. Why? The action at Reach was far too fast-paced for an open world.

New Mombasa is a dead city with quite a bit of Covenant, but there were not fleets of warships killing each other, armies of infantry killing each other...

Reach is far too fast paced for it, in my opinion.

True I got that info off a Mexican Gaming site(Ill try to find it) saying that Bungie had an interview or it was off the Dec issue of Game imformer.

No, I don't think so. As already said, the battle is too fast paced to be an open-world.

=)

i like the way you think man

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

I agree. Why would Bungie otherwise have done so drastical "expansion". They didn't have to change so many things to sell a game.

Reach will probably have some same features. I think and hope it won't be ODST 2 though

That's actually a good theory.

They basically said that ODST incorporated elements pertaining to the types of games they were to make in the future.

I fully expect Reach to take ODST's concept of an open world ot the next level.

Thats because it was, taken from Interview: Microsoft Game Studios' Phil Spencer, this is what Phil said about about ODST:

Which brings me to Halo. You've got the Halo anime that's coming out, Halo Legends. You have Halo Wars, you have Halo ODST, which just came out a few days ago.

Yeah, doing very well.

How well is it doing? [Editors' note: A more recent answer is, "Pretty well."]

You know, the numbers I get right now probably aren't worth quoting, and I'm not saying that again to dodge the question -- I mean, they're very spotty. I feel really good about the review scores that have come in. There are a couple of bottom liers, but overall I think people are showing Firefight is a great new online mode. People enjoy playing that.

Our goal in ODST was to tell the story at a different pace than this huge monolithic Halo 1, 2 and 3 were and to break it up into shorter minuets that people could digest in smaller segments. I think that's worked pretty well. I saw the excitement around the pre-orders and some of the midnight launches, and it's just great to see consumer reaction.

It felt almost experimental to me.

It was.

ODST was initially a project to cover up for the delay of the now cancelled Halo: Chronicles. My guess is Bungie decided to aid certain thingos in ODST to test the waters.

So in a way, we all might have just focus tested Reach.
