Subject: I hope the game will be filled with "OH WOW!" moments.

i mean, I love Halo 3's campaign. I happened to like characters like Master Chief, Cortana, the Arbiter, all those guys, and the cutscenes were great. And through and through, the game was solid.

However, nothing really big or exhilarating was thrown at you. I've recently replayed Halo CE and H2 and those were packed with a variety of locales with twists and turns, I just can't place my finger on that feeling. Something H3 felt like it was missing.

Thoughts?

I want the entire game to be a "wow"-er!

  • 10.25.2009 2:33 PM PDT

yes the only thing that really felt scary was the two scarabs bet they were a pushover. I'd love to be in a huge fort, tons of ammo, then you see a ship land nad drop off hundreds of troops.

actually, I can think of one "omfg" moment in H3.
it's right after you exit crow's nest mission, when you're in a warthog. a covenant cruiser flies right above you and makes everything shake.

....... yea, that's the most impressive moment of the hole game. isn't it a spectacular game? /sarcasm

That was cool. Too bad it looked pretty crappy IMO.

Agreed, Bungie doesn't seem to understand terminal velocity. A few peices of it take a whole second to fall several miles.

you are a good translator
Idiot can be a hard language to learn, but once you get it down, everything becomes so clear! The whole world will make sense to you.

Costal highway had alot of awesome moments where a Cruiser swoops overhead, and near the end when the Carrier torches the highway. Too bad the finale was nothing compared to those moments.

I can safely say that after replaying the same checkpoints over and over again because Buck will not shoot, Coastal Highway lost all it's appeal to me.

So? It LOOKED cool. That's all that matters.

Why don't people understand what bungie's trying to do here? To hell with realism, they do what they want.

And that's true about Buck not shooting. Man, the only reason I kept having to revert to last on that level was because BUCK kept killing me. He would wait until a ghost was 3 feet away from us and fire, killing me.

This is the biggest problem. THIS is what bungie SHOULD be working on.

Play it on Easy and then it's almost the best looking part of the game.

I reckon the last fourth of Halo: Reach will be like Coastal Highway, minus the suck.

I refuse to play any game on the easy setting.

Data Hive was one of my favorite levels in ODST. I don't particularly remember the smoke but I liked the environment.

Fine. But still even when I play Coastal Highway on Normal, he's a terrible shot. If he shoots at all. I swear there's something wrong with Buck's A.I script and targeting, because he's just awful no matter what.

I never experienced that problem during my playthroughs. H3's friendly AI has always been spotty. So you're just unlucky.

I really hope Bungie reaches for the stars by making this new game amazing. Every aspect of this game should be kick *** good!

To me, the thing that seperated Halo 3 from Halo 1 and 2 is the size of the levels. I'm talking about Halo 1 levels like AOTCR where the whole level is giant, it looks amazing when you look up from the bottom of the level. Also Halo 2 levels like the gondola ride when you play as the chief or arbiter. Again, your in wide open spaces. You feel like you can go anywhere. I hope that Bungie does this for Halo: Reach.

Halo 3 nearly perfected open combat. It's just that most of the battlefields felt more like arenas (Halo 3: ODST and FF didn't help, either).

And for the most part I agree with you. Things felt more wide open in CE and H2, and atmosphere for both games really matched with the area. "Sacred Icon" in Halo 2 is a good example.

Yeah. Imagine covenant cruisers flying around the levels similar to ODST.
