Roses are RED, violets are BLUE
all my BASES are belong to YOU!

Under cover of night was by far my favorite peice of music from halo ce. when i first heard the remake in halo 3 in the begining of the Ark, i was happy and dissapointed at the same time. i liked the new energetic feel but it was mixed with a song that i didnt like as much. YES bring back halo music's origins. i hope they have a seige of madrigal easter egg. :D

Edit: unforgotten would be great for an ending scene (reach getting glassed) or a death (sam)

The game and it's music just needs to return to it's sci fi feel like in Halo 1 instead of a freaking space opera like in Halo 2 and 3.

under cover of night isn't space opera in halo 3 D:
but yes alot of the later got kind of touchy feely.

Wherever you roam
so far from home
you'll be safe from peril
life threatening and terrible
if you avoid David Powel
and keep track of your towel.

I'm gonna cry nostalgia and state that the Halo 3 and ODST soundtracks were arranged in a "suite" format, edited only to fit the format of a CD and not changed for the sake of "listening".

Plus, each game had a distinct musical flavor.

What was that rock song that played during one of the missions in halo 2 that is like 2 hours long when you are fighting hunters? its like " the index" or something

  • 10.27.2009 5:37 PM PDT

I personally like halo 3 odst's music, I hope that reach has well planned out music like that. (Just not the same music)

  • 10.27.2009 5:38 PM PDT

Were it so easy.

You should definitely add Halo 3-Finish The Fight to the list, its better than all the others on the list.

Skip to 0:46 to hear the start.

What I didn't like was that in Halo 3, most of the music was done with an orchestra or choir. While this is great, it kind of took away the uniqueness and the sci fi feel that was once there in Halo.

Really I thought this song from ODST captured that

See you on the battlefield.

I haven't really been disappointed too much with the Halo music as of yet. I have to say, Halo CE definitely had the best soundtrack of all four games so far, with Halo 2 a close second.

My favorite pieces are What Once Was Lost, On a Pale Horse,The Gun Pointed at the Head of the Universe, Brothers in Arms, Reclaimer, and last but certainly not least: the ever recognizable main theme.

I'd like to see a return to this kind of style for Reach. I also really liked ODST's soundtrack. Perhaps a blend of these two, with a heavier weighting toward the Halo CE style, and with darker, more desperate undertones.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The remake Halo 3 had at the beginning of Halo was better. ALOT better.

i liked the music and it seemed in place but the halo 3 music was booming out the speakers in epicness. like the ending of halo 3 when the music realy adds to the effect

Agreed, Halo 3 music was the best.

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

I'd prefer new tracks to remade ones - If done properly, they can deliver a feeling that no remake can ever deliver. I preferred ODST's to Halo 3's anyway.

I like Halo 2's, but I don't think the mood would suit Reach properly.

As for Halo 1's, I loved it. So maybe a blend of Halo 1 and ODST music? A feeling of doom like ODST's, but also a hint that the events of Halo 1 are approaching.

Halo Reborn was pretty good, I'll give you that, but the parts of it don't really fit together. They sound great separately, but just don't flow together. Under Cover of Night was a bit better in this regard, since the later drum beat an vocals add more awesome to it.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

The Gun Pointed At The Head of The Universe
Covenant Dance
In Pursuit Of Truth
Peril
In Amber Clad

Of course I don't want reamkes in the enw game, I'd just like this kind of style to return.

My biggest complaint with the music in Halo 3 is that it's too ambient, too soft. It doesn't really get you in the mood to play as well as Halo 1 & 2's music.

  • 10.27.2009 6:23 PM PDT

Were it so easy.

Add the Finish the Fight song.

  • 10.27.2009 6:25 PM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Wow OP really couldn't have picked much worse songs :O

My favorites:
-Under Cover of Night
-Covenant Dance
-Brothers in Arms
-A Walk in the Woods
-Dust and Echoes
-Halo
-In Amber Clad
-Peril
-Impend
-High Charity
-Released
-Prepare to Drop or whatever ODST theme

Again, not remakes. Halo3 pretty much ruined all the remakes with their new style. Instead make new songs with the same old style. More authentic orchestra sound isn't always good.
Halo2 had superiorily the best soundtrack. I only dislike those examples you put there :S
