Bungie games > Bungie licensed/written books > Non-bungie games/books

All the Halo books are canon. There are no non Bungie ones.

1. I'd like to see where they said that.

2. And Reach was standardized in Halo: The Fall of Reach.

1.here. Frankie signed it off as canonically correct/doable, and they used the Halo bible to ensure it didn't make any irreparable changes.

2. It's not standardised, the book in itself alternates between 28 and 33 spartans present, and new canon overrides old so if H:R says different, it's the official number present.

Seems like an "official" conflict.
I've a mind to say, Bungie didn't have much choice in the matter other than to set out carefull guidelines for avoiding plot conflicts, seeing how M$ will do what it wants to make money. I should just accept the sad day has come.
*21 gun salute for Halo

Let's just hope Halo Reach gives us the OFFICIAL official story.

there will be sadly. The Halo universe is promised a long long life. Maybe not the healthiest one unfortunately.

Seeing as it's the last Bungie Halo game (at least for a while), set on Reach and they'll want to tie up at least SOME plot holes, I think this game will have the definitive story.

No there was no different variant. There was only ONE Arbiter armor. And yes, the planet was destroyed, further proving my point that Halo Wars was completely destroying Bungie's canon. And where did you get the idea of an infected Arbiter?

Arbiters are sent on suicide missions. Do you seriously think that the Prophets would be able to recover the armor in perfect condition every single time? It is far more likely that they created new armor whenever the last one was lost, to keep up morale and to uphold the symbolism of the Arbiter. Much like the UNSC did with Spartans by listing them as MIA as opposed to KIA.

Besides, Halo Wars is cannon. Get over it.

Yes I know but technically Halo Wars took the hugest crap on Bungie's canon. An example would be The Arbiter armor is supposed to be passed on from Arbiter to Arbiter. But it shows a Spartan shoving the Arbiters dead body (with the armor on it) off an extremely high Forerunner structure.

That's what the Prophets saiad, they could easily be lying, like they do plenty of times. And why wouldn't they?

Oh..

got a point there.

btw, like the armor. pink sells it

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

I just want to end one argument that should have ended a long time ago,
Arbiter Armor = Spartan's being MIA. It might not be exactly the same, but it's the same concept, for the moral of the troops, not as much for the Covenant however.

Now Halo Wars is completely canon, it's story line fits perfectly in, but this doesn't mean that the Halo Wars timeline thingie has to be completely canon itself.

The title of Arbiter is the highest possible honor bestowed upon a Covenant Sangheili by the Hierarchs during a time of need, and is also the highest rank in religious significance, although the Councilor is superior in political or military rank. The Arbiter acts as a sort of field general, going on missions for the Prophets and during incidents such as the Taming of the Hunters, the Grunt Rebellion, The war with the Humans, and most recently, the threat of the Heretics.

The Arbiter is sent on the most perilous and suicidal missions in times of when he is needed. On those missions, the Arbiter is expected to die (which they do, in most cases) and become another great martyr of the Covenant on their path to the Great Journey.

Rank of honor.

In a Halo Wars cutscene it shows Ripa 'Moramee, the current Arbiter of the game, being pushed off the side of the platform and then the entire area destroyed by a super nova. So, the Covenant would have to have made another armor set to be used for Thel 'Vadam(thus would have been nessecary anyway as Ripa was massive, even for a Sanghieli, while Thel was of average stature). Also, this would mean that his crypt in the Mausoleum of the Arbiter would be empty.

Posted by: Halopedia
Although the prophets say that the Arbiter armor is passed down, this would be impossible as it would often be severely damaged or Irretrievable due to the suicidal nature of the Arbiters task, as well as variation in the wearers stature (such as the enormous Ripa 'Moramee who would need a 'Tailored' set)

New armor is made, but likely using the original specs to keep it traditional.

If you met a single life form on a planet which was no more than essentially gasbags would you honestly tell everyone about if when you got back? And honestly, how dangerous would they think something which, to their knowledge, only lived on what is now a destroyed planet?

Not only that but ONI has kept information hidden from the public.

SNIP (because you shouldn't have to re-read this load of -Blam!-)

Yeah, you're still wrong. Holding guesses as canonical fact makes you a failure as a fan, refusing to accept canon because it's "commercial" makes you a failure as a consumer. If you had any sense of decency you'd brand yourself with the Mark of Shame and spend the rest of your life as a hermit in the Sahara.

Also, if you're going to use quotes to "support" your "arguments" at least put down the right quote: "each one created and consumed in times of extraordinary crisis."

You're right about one thing, the Arbiter is a rank of honor. But why does this necessitate a life of honor? (pro tip: it doesn't)

Your only rebuttle being, I messed up a quote that i didn't even mess up.
The rest is mere insults and a sense of you own ego.

If you can say I'm not a real fan, because I only accept what Joseph Staten and his affiliates produce as canon. Then go ahead call me loyal.

Yes, you did in fact mess that quote up. "Concealed" and "consumed" are different words.

I was not intending to refute your arguments, I have wrote several pages in various forums explaining in detail how Halo Wars does not contradict the canon of the Halo universe in any way other than a few minor facts from The Fall of Reach and First Strike which have also been ignored by Contact Harvest and The Cole Protocol.

For Example, and another.

By the way, "Brand yourself with the Mark of Shame and live as a hermit in the Sahara" was intended to be humorous.
