Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed, knowing better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives: not men, for flags.

Okay. There is a lot of discrepancy when it comes to the characters we will be playing in Halo:Reach. With the tags Sierra-320 and Sierra-259 being mentioned in the E3 trailer, the question of who these people are seems key to the debate. It has been speculated that these could be a new set of Spartans that we haven't been told about yet, and that we will play as them, or their squad mates.

On the other side, there is the notion that we will play as Spartans of the original 150 candidates, specifically those of Red Team and/or Blue Team. Evidence of this is found in the Halo:Reach Banner, seen above this forum. This is explained in one of privet caboose's threads, which can be found here.

So, which would you rather play as? New Spartans, or the good ol' Originals?

I would rather play as Blue/Red Team. I would rather play as them because I would like to have the events of Reach explained in more depth through the eyes of Red Team. (Yes, I have read all of the books several times each.) It would also be nice to see the relationships and camaraderie between the original Spartans displayed in-game.

Post your opinions on the subject of who you think or want to play as in Reach.

it doese'nt look nextgen , looks good but not nextgen
If by next-gen you mean crappy, dark and colorless, I agree. It doesnt look next-gen at all.

Give me new. The old characters have a written story. Making a game about what they did on Reach would be like rewriting the story.

Because Muslims surgically implant organic bombs in their testicles, which in turn will be injected into women during sex, which will grow into BABY BOMBS!

I'd like to play as any Spartans we already know. It helps the 'player-character relationship' in the game. It's much easier to connect to the characters.
An example of a bad 'player-character relationship' is the Rookie because you feel no connection with him at all in my opinion.

If they can have a new Spartan and make us feel a connection with him then it would be ok but I'd rather play as someone we know.

Check out the group, Planet Reach and talk about Bungie's next game without the annoyance of the public forum. Oh and it's nice there too.

You thought you had lag, it took Jesus 3 days to re-spawn.

Agreed with BTE. Give me a story I don't know everything about, not a retelling of the story from the book.

See, on that side of the argument I agree on as well. It's kind of contradicting, I know. When it comes to game play, I want new info and story, and I'm a canon stickler, so new Spartans would be good. But I love my old characters. I enjoy getting to play as John in the other main Halo titles, because I can kind of view the events through his frame of mind. This is because we know who he is mentally. It would be nice to get that experience with the other main Spartans of the series. If that were the case, the campaign would be kind of boring, but worth it IMO.

Basically, I'll be happy either way.

Off topic, I enjoy your posts BTE and Tucker 051. It's nice to see intelligence on these forums. ^-^
