Subject: Halo 3 BS must not continue to Reach

I know most of you can agree that too much bs happens in Halo 3.

This can be due to forms of lag, poor servers, or whatever. But this bs doesn't happen in a local game or a LAN.

Well, Bungie needs to do something in Halo: Reach to fix this problem because I know plenty of players who dislike Halo 3 because of the hit registration issues. Some even quit the game.

If Bungie wants to get more money and interest, they must act to fix the hit registration and lag issues that (their?) servers and equipment cause.

If you ask any Halo layer they will say that Halo 2 is better than Halo 3. You ask why. They say because there was less bs.

Respond please.

actually, it's mainly because of the maps that are like 300000% better.
high ground? sucks. terminal? hell yea!

I agree with the rest though. better hit registration LIKE IN COD = best improvement bungie can do.

Seriously, I rarely have a problem and I think Bungie has done a hell of a job polishing their netcode. The problems are purely technological limits and are almost definitely on your end if they're persistent.

  • 10.26.2009 7:44 AM PDT

Yes, really

soo... its bungie's fault you have a bad connection?

  • 10.26.2009 7:44 AM PDT

Bungie needs to make it to where no one is host and that will stop the lag.If bungie will use servers instead of letting people host that will make the game fair for everyone

Its pronounced Banhammer.

You don't need to claim its bs, its just going to tick people off who can't see any issues.

I agree that hit registration is a problem, but it only occurs with lag, which should be the main focus of maintaining online play.

And I doubt Bungie is in Halo for the money, so that statement can just have been left out. Microsoft maybe, but Bungie just wants to make great games imo.

If I ask any player, they will have different opinions. The only "bs" is lag, and to some, the BR spread, which is a matter of balance.

Halo 3 beats Halo 2 in many ways.
-Achievements
-Graphics
-Single story
-4 Player Co-op
-Different Co-op characters
-Meta Game
-Unlockable Skulls
-Mission Load Points
-Enhanced AI
-Weapons & updates of weapons
-Equipment
-Vehicles & updates of vehicles
-Character Customization
-New and updated Medals
-Enhanced Stat Tracking
-Global Heat Maps
-24 Carefully thought out maps, imo
-8 player forge mode (You can tweak your map and test it in real time! Then edit it some more, RIGHT THEN!)
-Game Type editing (Many original games came from Halo 3 multiplayer, namely Griffball, Rocket Race, and Monster Trucks.)
-Theater Mode

So what does Halo 2 have that Halo 3 doesn't? A better BR and a Brute Plasma Rifle with a another batch of great maps.

*Edit- I didn't wrap this up properly.

So, stick to your lag talk, instead of dissing Halo 3 for "bs" which is really just a bad connection to the internet on your part.

Lag still occurs even when servers are used.

That's really funny. Because COD is moving away from servers starting with Modern Warfare 2 and emulating Halo's Host/Playlist system. Yes, even on the PC version.

If you believe dedicated servers is an all around superior solution for online play then you're confused. Both systems have advantages and disadvantages. Dedicated servers do not automatically mean better connections. You believe this because you picked up the idea from other people on the internet who picked it up from other people on the internet...

I agree that either the netcode or the host selection system is not very well implemented in Halo 3. I also believe that they have an Engineer on staff who's going to fix that for Halo: Reach.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Most certainly un-true. Where did you find this?

I'm not saying that servers would fix everything. It would make it better in some ways.If bungie would make it to where the host has the best connection or someone's internet that could handle being host. That would make halo alot better.

halo 2 storyline :
introduced a whole new side of the story.
gave us an insight of the covenant culture and society
told us more about the covenant story
introduced us to new characters and relations between them.
told us more about the floods
told us about the forerunners

halo 3 storyline :
like H1's : one sided with less story.

as for the maps... sure, isolation, snowbound and foundry are REALLY awesome maps. who needs turf, terminal, lockout, midship, coag, etc when you have them?

in short : maybe the story is a matter of opinion, but not maps. halo 2 and halo CE had the best maps of the serie (unless you started playing halo with halo 3....)

It isn't opinion if it's true though, Halo 2 had the most fun and balanced maps in the entire trilogy. Headlong, Lockout, Midship, Coagulation, Waterworks, Sanctuary, etc. All of those are classics.

Halo 3's maps while decent, are underwhelming and were not entirely well designed. Equipment is way to common, and maps like Isolation, Snowbound, and Epitaph are universally hated by the community. Most of Halo 3's maps are not fun due to the fact that the first 30 seconds play out exactly the same everytime (Valhalla, The Pit, Guardian).

As for story, Halo 2 did infact have a better story thanks to the Arbiter being a playable character. Halo 3's story was the worst in the series so far.

I think that's a fair thing to say. There definitely seem to be issues with the way host is selected. It's understandable that sometimes there won't be any player in a match that can provide a good host to every player in the game but what's happening is Halo 3 goes far beyond that. There are people consistently getting host who have no business every getting it.

I have a friend who plays on a strict NAT. Customs with this guy are horrifying since he doesn't register hits on him consistently. Still, more often than not when he drops from a matchmade game we go blackscreen while a new host is selected. Why in hell would he be getting host so often?

I'm just a guy like you that plays halo.

It's not bungies fault you lag in a game. It's your crappy connection. Jesus i hate when people -blam!- about this so called 'problem'.

  • 10.26.2009 9:07 AM PDT

Jgraten I'm sorry to be the one to nitpick but I'm pretty sure the maps for Halo2 were like 100 times better.. and the equipment is horrible, takes to long to deploy when you really need it.
