Halo 3 beats Halo 2 in many ways.
-Single story
-24 Carefully thought out maps, imo
OPINION Halo 2 had a better storyline and better multiplayer maps.
Fixed. It isn't opinion if it's true though, Halo 2 had the most fun and balanced maps in the entire trilogy. Headlong, Lockout, Midship, Coagulation, Waterworks, Sanctuary, etc. All of those are classics.
Halo 3's maps while decent, are underwhelming and were not entirely well designed. Equipment is way to common, and maps like Isolation, Snowbound, and Epitaph are universally hated by the community. Most of Halo 3's maps are not fun due to the fact that the first 30 seconds play out exactly the same everytime (Valhalla, The Pit, Guardian).
As for story, Halo 2 did infact have a better story thanks to the Arbiter being a playable character. Halo 3's story was the worst in the series so far.
Nearly everything you have said on this thread has been an opinion, saying its true does not make it so.
I never said that Halo 2's story was worse or better than Halo 3's. I simply said Halo 3's was a single story, and implied it was less confusing to other fans out there from that. And someone said something about intoducing more culture about the covenant? Halo 3 does that too, as well as throwing in a couple well needed deaths. Think about both story lines, both sets of maps, I never said one beat the other, because in fact, it would be a matter of opinion only. I personally love alot of H2 maps, but I find that H3's are more balanced and competetive, while lacking in fun stratehies to play the map. There were tons of fun ways to tackle Terminal, Longshore, Headlong, and Tombstone. I just don't get those great feelings playing on High Ground, Longshore, and Sandtrap.
