This is what I meant by the "vehicle vs anti-vehicle weapon balance."
With the spartan laser, there is no balance. If you have one, all the vehicles are dead until you are out of ammo. And once you are out of ammo, all your infantry are dead until it spawns again. Rocket launchers and sticky grenades are nice, but most smart drivers don't get close enough for you to be able to use them effectively, and the missle pod not only has very low ammo but also tends to get burned all on one target because people are idiots.
I really agree with you. Infact, I made a thread that talks about this too. Here's part of it:
This weapon kind of kills the joy of vehicle combat. Once someone has it, consider the vehicles destroyed. So I've come out to three options:
Option A: Make the Spartan Laser like a Sentinal Beam on steroids. What I mean is that when it charges (which should also be longer), it fires in a continous beam that is enough to put reasonable damage (2/3) to a vehicle, but to actually inflict the full 2/3 damage, you have to keep the beam to the vehicle. While this sounds easy, the beam's accuracy starts to dramatically decreases reasonably with added recoil. And it should only contain 4-6 shots.
Option B: Take it out completely and add lock-on to the rocket launcher. Not Halo 2 Lock-on, but a lock on that'll home in but then if a vehicle makes a quick move, it will lose track of it and not hit it. But their should be no indicator to the vehicle if the rockets are locked on.
Option C: Make an entirely different anti-air vehicle.
