Spawn-killing is annoying, but it's really only spawn-killing if someones turret camping with a scorpion. If you get run over by a passing vehicle, it's more of the games fault for making you respawn under someones treads or tires.

And as for camping, it only matters in team scoring race games. If its a highest member's score race, you only need one guy racing while everyone else goes for the enemy driver.

It depends on whether you want a good game or a win. Spawn Camping is simply legal cheating. Develop some sportsmanship and show some character.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Like everyone, I hate getting spawn killed, but I'll shoot anything that's wearing the opposing teams color , (moving or not), since I don't find too many people waiting for me to start moving before they shoot at me. It would be nice if everyone were invulnerable for the first 3 to 5 seconds after respawning.

That said, Ive been thinking about what causes spawn killing and how to reduce it. One factor is the respawn time. If it's set to 0, then you're not really killing anyone, just moving them to another spot. I find games that have a longer respawn time have less spawn killing. Killing someone should keep them dead and out of your way for a bit. Of course, if someone does start spawn killing, you have to wait to get back in the game.

Also, putting a dozen tanks and/or banshees in Blood Gultch, (or any map), just encourages it. Most modded maps have too many vehicles and "super weapons."

Other things that encourage spawn killing: Banshees but no plasma 'nades or pistols. Tanks with no plasma 'nades, pistols or sniper rifles. Turning FF off. If they can blast away at your base while their team mates get your flag, they'll do it. If they have to worry about killing their own team mates, you have a chance.

The designers at Bungie seem to put a good balance of firepower and vehicle in their standard maps. When hosts set up a map with too many "goodies," that balance is destroyed.

I often find myself getting into a tank or banshee just to keep it out of enemy hands so they can't use our vehicles against us, even though I don't really like them.

An amusing aside:
Once I was playing CTF in Ice Feilds. I was the passenger in a hog. We got blown up at the enemy base. I was thrown onto a ledge behind the enemy base that you usually can't get to. I only had one bar of health left so I figured it would not pay to jump down and attack. I started popping away at the opposing players as they respawned. They were running around looking for me, but didn't spot me till they went up to search the roof, and even then they didn't spot me on their first trip up. They only looked where they expected me to be, so it took a while.

I guess you could call that "camping" and I was spawn killing, but it was so much fun watching them go nuts trying to find me.
