Subject: Map Control Features - A New Matchmaking Concept - Y/N

Glad to see some people actually like the idea AND posted a response. Most who voted they liked, didnt reply, and most who dont like, of course, did reply.

Just looking for suggestions, ideas, additions/removals, etc.. to help the idea grow into something that could be implemented in the game.

I was thinking earlier that they needed to do away with random respawns, how about spartans being dropped into combat via a fully controllable drop pod (achievements for a drop pod splatter?) or the spawn timers being delayed untill a number are dead so a pelican can be used to drop them into combat (but only in big team games). The drop points and such could be controlled by the highest ranked player, although this would make it more like Halo: Wars.

*bleep bloop*

Achievement Unlocked: A waste of a human being.

Waste your time on a CoD game and reach a high prestige (10th or 15th).

really do you thing you could really have enough time to view and use all that...you'd be screwed trying to read a map during the battle

Its not that you have to "read" a map. Like I said in a later post, if you or a teammate finds the map, you can pull it up and view it and then if you needed to make a move, minimize it to a corner of your screen. Also you could pull it up to see if a weapon has respawned, and immediately close it after.

Stupidity, when sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic

the camera idea's cool, but no weapon spawn map- i spend hours studying weapon spawns and have my own rocket timer, so i think that people who want to know the spawns etc should have to work for it,

My thoughts:

Some of these are very good ideas, especially being able to open and close doors/bridges.

First, most of these ideas would be best implemented on large maps. The security camera system would be kind of cool, just make sure it is in a common area, not where people would be hiding. Part of Halo is the element of surprise, and it would degrade the gameplay if that was taken away. Perhaps they could be destroyed...

A central control room is a good idea, as something that you can access in a seperate menu while you are there. One problem would be, though, that it would become very contested in those areas, and the rest of the map wouldn't be utilized. It might be better for each base to have its own control panel for its half of the map, if this applies.

Personnally, I don't like the idea of in-game maps/weapon spawn indicators. A good part of the game is learning new maps by playing them, and happening to come across a weapon right as it spawns. To me that wouldn't be a good addition.

Overall, I like the idea of adding some strategy into the gameplay. I know that some people out there do not like the idea, but in terms of how it could be handled in Matchmaking, there could be a seperate playlist with only " strategic maps" being used. Great ideas, would love to see some of it in Reach!

Thanks for the reply! Yeah these were seriously ideas I was coming up with at like 1 in the morning.. Im sure they could use some work and would need to be reworked a great deal. Just trying to use some examples of what I was going for.

Basically an environment that is fully interactive.

I defintely agree. It would be cool to see these things in forge as well, so you could manually place these startegic items.

Forge for sure. They would have to be implemented in a way where operations are completed with a quick one-click. While using these advantageous features can give you an edge over the other team, you are still left unprotected. Either bring a buddy, or be quick.

control rooms.. neutral or bases

Design Supply Caches: Be able to (in forge) add supply caches with 4 weapons or 2 power weapons. Set to spawn at start.

i.e.

Ammo Cache 1 (Mid-Map)
x2 BR
x2 Carbine
x2 Frag Grenades
x2 Plasma Grenades

Would be epic in customs. Could even drop out of the sky like in campaign when set to spawn.

I believe they would work in MM despite the gameplay issues you bring up.

Or territories you can only capture with your whole team.
