Subject: UPDATE post changed. What kind of Bosses would you like in Reach?

Iam enjoying Halo Reach and revisiting some past Bungie games, iam a big fan of Bungie and their online community.

UPDATE.

It would seem that the idea of an Arbiter has not been warmed to due to historical inaccuracy, so i propose we discuss a signifcant Boss style charecter for Reach. So a boss in Reach is what this thread will now be about.

And if you want discuss the Arbiter to. Because it would be cool to see one in Reach.

Subject: An Arbiter in Reach, the posibility of a key enemy in the story.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

I can clearly remember there being an Arbiter during the attack on Reach, so yes, I would love to see this.

Non Nobis Nascimur - We are not born for ourselves.

How would they work it out though? Something similar to the epic battle versus Tartarus?

That is what we must discuss i supose i liked the battle in halo wars but that was a cut scene.

  • 10.27.2009 4:19 AM PDT

while I dont know about playable, I'd love for it to reference him in a cutscene or 5 as the commander of the forces that destroyed reach. It would make his fall from grace seem much more epic to see that he commanded one of the largest covie forces of all time in one of the biggest battles of the war.

There is no Arbiter at the time of the Battle of Reach. The last one died (Halo Wars) and Thel won't become the Arbiter until after Halo: CE. There will be no Arbiter in Reach.

I was under the impression that that was the case but it has never been confirmed otherwise.

Plus, not exactly the best source of reliable information, but its the best we've got so far: Halopedia's Arbiter page mentions that there was indeed an Arbiter during the Battle of Reach.

Technically true. Just he wasn't the Arbiter yet. Thel was the Commander of the fleet that attacked Reach.
Edit: Weird. There were two Arbiters between them? Where the hell did they get that info?

I do not believe the Unnamed Arbiter of the Battle of Reach was indeed Thel haha.

This really surprises me and leads me to think if this information came from the recent Halo Encyclopedia. I'll do some digging and find out.

It makes sense though. Both attacks on Jericho VII and Reach were of great importance to the Covenant. Makes sense that an Arbiter would be sent in. What I don't know is how the Arbiter in Jericho VII died. I mean, if the Reach Arbiter exists, it only makes sense that he would be in the game and we would be the ones to have killed him. But if there was an Arbiter on Jericho VII, who killed him?

Anyway, guess that's besides the point.

  • 10.27.2009 5:05 AM PDT

Yeah, the Wars one died. Then for Jericho they made a new one (I guess?) and he died so they made a new one (he died on Reach) so then Thel was made into an Arbiter. That's four Arbiters in less than 20 years.
Edit:And yeah, I think the Encyclopedia is a good start.

Speculations cool anyway, but as long as its possible i hope we will see an Arbiter.

Yea, that is kinda weird. Damn, either the Covenant was desperate or the entire Myth of the Arbiters were a lie in the first place and there were either Multiple Arbiters operational at the same time. With what with little we know about the Covenant itself, that doesn't really sound that far-fetched.

Hell, I would love to meet an Arbiter in Reach. Model him more like the Wars one though. Thel was a -blam!- compared to Ripa.

The Arbiter's fleet (Fleet of Particular Justice) followed the PoA to the Halo so he's not in Reach other than just a cameo or being mentioned at the most.

Unless there are any other unnamed (current at that time) arbiter sent to Reach

Check the link I provided above. Apparently there was one, but no source as to where that information came from.

Honor Light Your Way, Our Blood Shall Forge A Thousand Generations!.

Well, ODST introduced the First-Person-Cutscenes, so I'm guessing they'll be in Reach.

Maybe an epic first-person-cutscene battle with button combos?

Nah, I doubt Bungie will stoop down to Quick Time events.

  • 10.27.2009 5:55 AM PDT

I highly doubt that an Arbiter was created at Reach, died there, and then was replaced but a few months later by another.

PS - First person cutscenes have been in Halo for a long time. Its just that the Master Chief didn't speak in them. They're still cutscenes though, like the ones in Half Life.

The invasion of Reach was considered a major event, and I don't see why an Arbiter wasn't created. There wasn't also any criteria for a time needed before a new Arbiter would be created.

But you don't understand: the Covenant never thought humanity was anything more than an annoyance. Attacking Reach? Oh, just send a small portion of the fleet to deal with the Infidels. Its not a huge crisis.

It was only in the middle of Halo 2 that the Covenant suddenly realised the humanity was a bigger problem than it appeared, and by then it was too late.

So the Covenant wouldn't create an Arbiter just because they were attacking Reach.

An important Forerunner artifact was also there that needed to be recovered. Ripa 'Moramee, the Arbiter in Halo Wars, was appointed to 'conducting the war of extermination against humanity and uncovering Forerunner artifacts'.

there'll probably be a scarab battle, be nice to shoot down a covie cruiser tho (not likely!lol), a group of honour guard elites with two engineers would be a challenge too.
