Subject: UPDATE post changed. What kind of Bosses would you like in Reach?

A Drone queen or somesthing like that! You could walk in the Nest of the Drones just like we saw it in ODST! She would be much bigger than other Drones and would have shields and when here shields down she flys away and you get attacked by drones so you can´t kill her! After you killed the drones she comes back with full shields! I think that would be awesome

The only boss I would like to fight in the HALO saga would be Gravemind itself. Bungie's bosses kinda all suck. Since the game is going for a scifi realistic approach bosses are kinda pointless.

Hello! I'm a male!

How about a giant taco monster? -.^ See if they can make you too hungry to play the rest of the campaign. =P

10 golden hunters jump out of a phantom, and you have a spartan laser with 1 shot left.

Can you kill them?

We're never what we invent or intend.

Please no. No Tartarus or unkillable drone queens.

That battle was horrible. We need something less arena-style and something more like fighting Hunters on legendary in H2. Better action and more realistic/fun.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

None, considering there shouldn't be boss battles in Halo. Halo 2's boss battles were tedious an annoying. Halo 3's was plot driven, but could have been better. Reach should also be devoid of any classic boss battles. Bosses and mini-bosses in shooters are outdated and uninteresting IMO.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

There is no Arbiter at the time of the Battle of Reach. The last one died (Halo Wars) and Thel won't become the Arbiter until after Halo: CE. There will be no Arbiter in Reach.
no one has ever said that there wasn't one that died at REACH (such as killed by whoever we get to play as) so please stop making S**t up. If they don't say it cannot happen, then it is a possibility.

something like the cut scene for Romeo's mission in ODST. When buck stabs that brute chieftain in the neck. A battle that it is actually HARD to beat. even on legendary halo 3 isn't very difficult.

-make a cool battle that would take like 10 nubbers to take down the boss and about 3-4 good players to take out the boss.

hope it happens...

ps. something like the end of endure when all the enemies are super good and strong. make us have to battle someone like that (like a brute chieftain w/ super abilities)

You see i think that if a little more thought was put into Bosses we could enjoy a good old boss brawl.

Yeah something like this is what I'd like to see.

Maybe throw in a special guy in the mix who is the primary guy you have to defeat. Kinda like when Cheif takes down Truth in 2 without it being a prophet. The honor guards would be in your way and it would do you well to kill them but you only need to kill one particular bad-ass one among them that is important to the story for some reason.

Yea, Honor Guards are badass.

I would like to be able to destroy a Covenant battle cruiser or something similar to that. But the level doesn't end as you destroy it...you see the explosion / ruin while playing. Eh, I don't know. I'll need a few hours just to ponder this to make interesting ideas.

Welcome to the internet, where the men are men, the women are men, the children are police officers and everyone is correct all the time, even when they are wrong, and where opinions are more valid with the more swear words you include with them.

Not sure, but was there Flood on Reach? Im not sure so if we got to fight gravemind or not. I think that an actual boss is necessary despite the warthod run tradition. (Not saying that it sucks) but a battle with an/the Arbiter would be cool. I rather fight another actual being in shooting or sword fighting or whatever rather than disabling a carrier or infiltrating one and taking it down from the inside (i.e. Scarab)

I dont care, epic boss battle please

The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.

You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.

So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

Bosses I would find acceptable;
Mini-Bosses:
Berserker Sword Elite(s): Just an elite that rushes forward with dual swords who relentlessly chases either yourself or the AI around you across the map. None of the hold back till the end of the fight BS hammer brutes pull.

Deacon/ Preacher Grunt: This religious guide for grunts whips them into a frenzy and makes them immune to the usual fits of fear they display. The character its self is not all that terrifying just the notion of having grunts actually hold their ground or hunt your down (that is if bungie doesn't ruin another game with BR style headshot spams, seriously bungie why do they even bother putting grunts into halo 2/ 3 if an entire mob dies from half a magazine of your game-dulling weapon ARG SORRY FOR THE SIDE RANT).

Survivor Elite: Not very special or all that powerful, just an elite with a plasma rifle/ etc. that has a little extra shielding and health. However, he exhibits behavior that will have him charge in to try and wreak your day before using allied cover fire to eventually withdraw and even lead you along to the next fight. Maybe give these guys small animations where in the distance you can see them issuing orders and making the enemy AI arm up with better weapons or be on the alert. So you feel as if the rest of the level will be just that much more difficult if you don't take the extra effort to kill off that nameless villain.

Main "Boss Fight" Bosses:
I don't want any bullet sponges who can punch/ shoot back like we got with Halo 2's Heretic, Prohpet, and Tartarus, or worse yet Halo 3's Guilty Spark. I would however like to see some enemy units that are fought only once but offer a very unique gameplay experience.
Ex:
Brute High Chieftain: Though brutes are not "in power" at this time they would certainly be used on some level (despite what the books say). So what I would like to see is a pack of brutes capture the protagonist(s) and then hold some insane deathmatch where the player is stripped of his weapons and instead only given a unique piece of scrap metal to use melees only against a hammer brute. After you win you likely escape with outside support or just sneak out through some dark passages with brutes hot on your tail.

Hero Elite: Locked in a confined room with one would suck and become way too "bullet spongey" but seeing some modestly equipped (plasma rifle/ maybe a side needler) equipped elite (with special armor) run around landing perfect stickies/ just annihilating your AI buddies amongst a large covenant assault would be interesting. He could have the effects of that "dodge" skull and have some higher shields/ health but ultimately just make him a crack shot. Maybe a couple of rockets or heavy machine gun fire will make him uneventful but if you mission is to hold a defensive line then this covie veteran could make a nice change up to the usual waves of guys that would charge you.

Phantom: Yes the good old dropship. These things are usually just bonus kills but what if one that was armed to the teeth decided to stay around to try and slaughter you from the sky? Better yet, what if this happened in an area that deliberately gave you not a single luxury weapon (missile pod/ fuel rod gun/ rocket etc) and instead made you run around an area scavenging bodies for nades or trying to kill the gunners/ shoot explosives the phantom passes over.

Jurassic Park T-Rex Scene: Nah I don't want any dinosaurs but halo is packed with things that you could potentially be fleeing from while shooting at in the back of a warthog. What if you were locked into place in the back of a warthog and had to make sure a scarab/ various other fast moving or large enemies had to keep their distance.

Duel: Not a "stand still and then draw old west duel" but what about once again finding yourself stripped of your existing arsenal as you are then made to fight a relatively small (but well scripted) set of AI foes with only the most meager of weapons that then make this tiny sub-battle its own unique experience as the struggle for more ammo or bigger guns plays out on this micro-level. While not a true boss fight it would be interesting to see people cope with the usual foes while only given a plasma pistol, no nades, and facing AI wise enough to not just go up to you one by one.

Bombing Run/ Starfighter: More like a mini-game than anything else. Why not ditch the FPS element and embrace some specialty vehicles you won't normally play in, such as a longsword bomber or some other crazy fighter craft?

Giant Grunt.

*Bobfather17*

The Arbiter made me think of running from dual-sworded elites in an enclosed area while you see members of your squad quickly get picked off. The idea would be to escape the enclosed area rather than taking on the elites.

But full bosses in Halo are typically pretty annoying. I remember repeatedly dying against the heretic in Halo 2 until I shoved him into a corner where he couldn't move and I sworded him until he died (holograms shoot you = wtf?).
