The day a console game gets a dedicated server is the day that console game comes out for Onlive
By the way, did that thing like die? I heard something about a beta but after that, nothing.
Theres been several console games that have had dedicated servers get a clue. There should be but there wont be, having dedicated servers for 2 million people playing the game everyday is costly as hell and even though microsoft is drowning in money and charging us for live they wont do it. Get ready for more bullets dropping, red bar games, meeles not connecting, people not dying in reach.
Nearly 100% of all xbox360 games run with the xbl host client system, it's not something that the dev's choose to do, it's something that they are required to do for their game to function on xbl.
That being said it is worth noting for the unitiated that dedicated servers have a set of problems all on their own. You would exchange host advantage for advantage by ping rate, and you put the reliability of the xbl network on small group of hardware (the servers) meaning that if they go down, all MM for that game goes down, and yes, that crap happens.
The final kicker on servers is usually cost. For a community like the one that Halo has, servers to support it would cost a massive amount of coin, and that is not even including necessary maintenance and the staff to monitor and service them.
There is no "fix" for lag boys and girls.
