Subject: which new guns failed

The spiker definitely didn't fail. Shooting with it and then meleeing with it was beastly.

  • 10.27.2009 6:31 PM PDT

Spiker, hands down.

  • 10.27.2009 6:58 PM PDT

You are lame...

Where is the "All of them" option?

  • 10.27.2009 7:22 PM PDT

My honor student can beat up your honor student.

I'd have to say the spiker because I just don't think it fills any niche in the Halo 3 sandbox. All of the other weapons had some sort of purpose; this was just another SMG-ish weapon.

  • 10.27.2009 7:28 PM PDT

I hate the mauler, so thats my vote

  • 10.27.2009 7:38 PM PDT

ISU Cyclones!

Well... I'll pick each one of those up in some situation.

But I don't think I'd miss the Spiker a whole lot. Is is dual-wieldable though so that's a plus. Maybe give the spikes a bit more velocity to make it more viable at a slightly longer ranges.

  • 10.27.2009 8:00 PM PDT

The Spiker, no contest. I was pretty disappointed with it. I still use it from time to time, but it's just not really a go to weapon at all.

  • 10.28.2009 1:33 AM PDT

Its a trap!!!

I will say the big 3 equipment fail in multiplayer

1. Power Drain- I press X and the entire team is one shot. Oh I am so skilled. I would change it to take down OV only. Still Emp vehicles and added coolness remove camo if camo person is hit

2. Regen- Oh i am going to own this guy I am out shooting him. His shooting isnt as good as mine I will win for sure. Oh wait now hes completly healed up and pretty safe and he can skillesly beat me now

3. Bubble shield- I admit i have done cool things like make people suicide them selves with rockets. But come on I am about to win and you throw this up and pull out shotgun or stickies. Yes lets add this equipment and we can ignore staying around real objects that give you cover

I do think they should keep grav lift and tripmine. They dont seem to unbalance things and seem to add fun options to gameplay

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Needler, just because it isn't fun to use. Halo1 version was big and felt like a serious weapon while Halo2 version was small and weak but when you got 2 of it it was devastating pink explosion machine. Halo3 version takes the worst of both

although in both 1 and 2 the weapons didnt act like a serious weapon and getting kills with them vs human opponents was rare since its was always easy to dodge

at least in H3s version if your backs turned, your stationary, or your in a narrow hallway the needler makes you pay for it not giving you the time the other needlers did to easily correct your mistake.

So at least when this weapon can work it actually works for once. For the first time I consider the weapon good.

spiker = useless.
mauler = pointless. already have shotty, hammer, sword.
bubble/regen/powerdrain = adds nothing to gameplay. get out of jail card
other equipment = adds a little to gameplay, changes the situation. still, not a whole lot.
spike nade = failed attempt at a different type of grenade. useless.
needler = perfect
odst magnum = even weaker then the h2 pistol. works in odst, useless for reach.
odst smg= more autoaim then the ar, more damage then the ar, and a 2x scope. doesnt matter in odst, op for reach.

1: The Spiker is in every way better than the AR and SMG.
2: Dual Wield allows devastating mauler combos (The PR Mauler BEATS all 3 other melee weapons)
3: Adds to gameplay, just nothing good.
4: Meh
5: You must really fail if you don't know how to use spike grenades AND Spikers.
6: Couldnt agree moe.
7: Actually it is exactly the same as the H2 pistol, in fact I would say it would be better in Reach than the BR and Carbine.
8: Not more autoaim, or damage, just better accuracy when bursting and a larger clip, get it right.

It's a magzine not a clip :)

True. Every gun has it's strengths and it's weaknesses.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Where's the option"BR"?

This belongs in the ODST forum.

Yes it's good but not fun to use IMO. Not in campaign and not in multiplayer. It looked stupid unlike in other games as well

Halo1 Needler on the other hand was very nice in campaign and still somewhat worked in multiplayer, only that people were so fast and maps open. Halo2 Needler was tuned pretty pathetic for multiplayer but in campaign I loved them.

I hope they make it useful and fun. If it's single wield make it bigger, serious looking weapon like the Halo1 version or make it dualwieldable but able to hit and kill someone in multiplayer.

Also known as Entropy91
Black Water Ops representative.
See you on the battlefield.

I think the spike grenades are pretty useless. Plasma grenades do the same job, better. The only real difference is that PGs have a longer fuse and splash damage, so that if you miss, you can at least damage something.

I should probably add a note about the Needler. I think it's been getting progressively worse throughout the series. In Halo CE, if you encountered a Major Elite with a needler in the open, you were screwed. It was also christened as the "Elite killer" by those who beat it on Legendary.

Stop Nerfing the good weapons!!

1 - That is some pretty skillful power drain placement to EMP an entire team.

2 - It's pretty skill-less of you to assault someone with such an obvious advantage.

3 - Same as above

Yeah, I really don't like it either.
I mean, in ODST the special ops brutes have them and they own, but when you pick it up, its just worthless and not worth having, unless you really really need a weapon.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

None of the available options failed at all. I'm surprised the Assault Rifle isn't on that list. It was a great comeback, but it sounded horrible and I, along with many others, were not fans of the reduced clip.

all the wepons worked well for halo 3 and halo 3 ODST they just need to be tweeked for better improvement
the mauler was good worked out well in game.
the spiker was good too.
the automag may need just a little tweekeing to make it a little more stronger.
spike grenades were wounderful i didnt have to see them fall off an enemy when i stuck them like the plasma grenades.
the equipment worked out well for everyone u just need to know when to use them and which to use.
the splazer worked out well
i'd like to see the homing rocket from halo two back i liked that a lot.
those are just the few i could think of off the top of my head for now

Glory to the Brave, and Honour to the Fallen.

I'm very disappointed in anyone who is indicating they think the needler is a worthy weapon.

Yes, I understand how easy it is to kill someone with it, I've crumpled many times before a barrage of tracking-exploding-missiles.

I've never liked the idea behind the needler. In any Halo game. Ever. I feel that they should have a balance control in regard to their homing ability on enemy targets. With the exception of the sniper rifle and any high explosive weapon that kills you in a single direct hit, most of the other weapons give you the opportunity to implement some sort of dodging routine to give yourself a fighting chance. With the needler, however, you really have little chance if you weren't facing the foe in the first place. Once the first three get into your back your more or less done for.

The needler will always be a noob-cannon for me, and I wish that it would be balanced better or removed. I'll offer balance suggestions depending on what everyone thinks. I suspect to be assaulted by many of you forum goers.
