The less than a second latency of online play is a better system to play off of than more health.
You realize this system is just as host based, right? because if you're fighting host, or someone with a better connection to host, and you each start firing at the same time, his BULLETS will register first, giving him slightly more health if the melees happen at the same time.
So would you rather have the BS of both, or just one?

As far as "background" animations of space ships doing things I can't say I'm all that excited. I would hope we actually get to see Reach get glassed.
However, it has been three long games (halo 2,3, ODST) since we have had a good old fashion raid on a covie spaceship (high charity was designed more like a city and doesn't count). I would prance around like a giddy school girl if we once again got to storm down some purple hallways blasting our way to some vital location before making a hasty ex-filtration. Having that take place on a Super Carrier would only amp up the awesome factor.
EDIT: As for the Halo Wars vehicles; I couldn't say. It is likely we will see a whole lot more human military gear, Reach is one of the most pivotal UNSC military locations. As for the playability of those vehicles that all depends on how the game is built. As much as I would love a cobra in the game it might not work with how the game plays/ in a non RTS setting.
