so, i was replaying the halo 2 campaign, and on the final level where you have to kill tartarus, there were brutes with shotguns. now, idk if there were any humans present, (except for johnson and keyes but they had no guns) so did the brutes actually manufacture shotguns? i just found it weird that there were human weapons on an alien ring with no humans anywhere.

"stay in school. you'll love yourself more for it."

They most likely didn't make them from the same material as the shotgun but they did probably get the idea to make them after using them. They could've wanted a more brutal shotgun which is why it has a blade.

This and no, they would have made a plasma shotgun

What? The Mauler is not a plasma shotgun.

Many humans were on the ring. When you first land, there are quite a few personnel working with you.

Why does everyone hate Halo 2? Maybe its because its the worst game ever next to mario.

Here is a interesting fact for ya: Halo 2 is the only Halo game where you will find a Brute wielding a shotgun.

That's got to be one of the coolest things in any game - when you see the "Fight Club" text, and notice Brutes basically messing around with shotguns...shooting the wall and turning away etc. A very CE-like detail.

Have you ever seen the Needler Sentinel? Yeah, there is one Sentinel in Halo 2 that uses a Needler. There would have been more, but they were scratched from the game... One got through.

^^^ Yup, the Needler is in QZ in the factory ship crash site.

Near the end of the level, Uprising, when you get close to the arena, a text, Fight Club will appear, after you quickly snipe/kill the two snipers, zoom in at a open chamber in front of a waterfall you are on top of, you should see a brute slowly walk into your view, then turn and start test firing a human shotgun at the wall.

Wow I never knew that. Even after all these years, you can still learn something new about halo 2.

Another fun fact about Halo 2: (kind of off-topic but I feel like saying it)

When playing on the level Metropolis, right after you get out of the tunnel, and the text "This town ain't big enough for the both of us" appears, leave the Gauss Warthog alone and let the marine driving it die. Then there and an Elite would get in the turret and shoot you.

  • 11.10.2009 9:57 PM PDT

The Elites take over any warthog turret they see. Whenever I play Lost Platoon, I miss the H2 Elites because they would get in the Warthog if I didn't use it.

During Metropolis (Legendary play) it is always a big help when the driver of the gauss hog dies without the hog going up in flames. If you ping the silver elite a few times without killing him with a beam/sniper rifle and get him off of the platform and onto the ground that turret will always draws the silver elite as you whittle down the jackal snipers. You can then snipe him out of the turret.

The handy thing about not losing the hog is that you can position it properly to be able to take out the wraith and the ghosts without getting nailed by the wraith's lobbed plasma rounds. That spot also allows you to get out when the ghosts are tagging you with fire, re-charge shields and then get back in and let em have it in the butt's of their ghosts as they haul back into the bowl after having lost sighe of you.

As far as brutes with shotguns, I think it is just another way to have some gun or ammo for you to pick up for a human weapon to keep those active in the game. As badly watered down as the shotty got in H2, I almost never use it anyway. If I have Grunt Birthday Party active, I prefer to take out the flood with either the Carbine or BR. The shotty just takes too long to use, re-load and there is less ammo for it. As much as I love the up close and personal touch of it in CE, I find it annoying in H2, plus they totally pooched the sound of it!
