Subject: New Way of Spawing?

Spaw kill!

no, you would have a momentary invulnrability to damage, say 3 seconds, after the pod hits the ground. the only way to kill a man as he is coming out of one would be to assasinate him, and the best way to that is to be under the pod as it lands........

exactly what i was thinking

True. However, if the HEV is treated as a vehicle, these situations could be upheld as the physics would handle such a thing. How about this for interesting: this dynamic only happens at the beginning of a round. The team grabs weapons then hot drops into the combat zone, controlling where their pods land. The the enemies leap from their pods (maybe the Covenant pods seen in Floodgate? Different teams = different pods??) and the battle begins. Normal spawning happens after that.

but that would happen only at one time per game so it could happen but still unlikely

as a Game type

maybe a "target practice" where you continuously spawn and try to hit targets with your pod?

How about no. How about no to this idea. How about this idea wouldnt work in so many different ways its funny were ACTUALLY discussing it.

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

And what will you do for all the indoor maps or outdoor roofed maps?

Defender of Reach

that would be awesome. you could control the pod somewhat like turn it slightly and the wind could be a factor too or something

Only on the big outdoor maps, my friend. otherwise, standard spawn. It could be optional.

thanks dustin. if people would actually read the topic like you they would see that that has been addressed multiple times

Enough of these LOL DROP POD ideas. It's not feasible, and, in addition, allows for spawn camping because of the "limited control."

have you seen or played section 8 they have these kinds of spawns where you drop from orbit and it works well (i would reframe from picking up the game though)

  • 10.28.2009 8:03 PM PDT

I don't mean to [b]be[b/]mean but this is a very bad idea.

Spartans are not deployed in pods, they are dropped off in pelicans!!!!!

it doesnt mean that they cant be deployed in pods. Look at halo 2 or the cole protocol or i think the spartan 3s were deployed that way. and besides its Multiplayer it doesnt have to follow canon.

Shape Up or Ship Out*

possibly, as long as it is not like Section 8. I can fly around the map in that thing. limited or no control is the awnser here.

exactly what i thought. really id just like to see a cinematic playing while the game loads maybe?? cause with the drop pods what about indoor maps? and with that much freedom of a controlled pod theres bound to be problems like glitches and cheaters

and how is the current spawn method spawn camping proof?
this wouldn't be much different in that it would pick the general spawn area for you using the current methods

At the very least, it doesn't allow someone to look up and basically go "Oh, he's spawning there."

People need to stop whining about spawn-camping until they've played Call of Duty 4 (Which I'm not bashing; I just think spawn-camping is a huge problem).

the idea has also been presented that you would have like 3 seconds of invulnerability or an overshield if you drop so that it is harder to spawn kill

That is an afterthought to counter valid points against it.

So you're saying that a player should be invincible so he should

1. Have an extra five seconds before the team camping there kills him.

2. Gets a free kill off of some unlucky guy he lands next to.

3. Get a ridiculous amount of kills against a bunch of inattentive players or ones who didn't accept a random drop pod to land in their midst.

Man, I can REALLY see why this idea is so good.

Gah, I need a break from the Bungie forums.

1. not 5 seconds, 3 or less

2. debris or dust tossed up to obscure view making kills harder

3. if someone doesn't notice a big HEV come burning out of the air and landing next to them its their own blam fault and maybe they shouldn't be playing the game

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

It would be a cool first spawn for some Firefight maps (yes, Spartans could use drop-pods, too), but other than that, I don't think so.

there wouldn't be much freedom with where you could go in the pod. would probably be easy to enforce because the moderators/banhammer might be able to track where you land and if you land outside of the landing zones you get banned for glitching/hacking

thanks for not totally bashing the idea. not saying this would be used but it would be cool and if done right could probably work really well

Oh, two seconds taken off. That'll definitely take the unbalance of being INVINCIBLE in the middle of a battle. No matter how little it is, it's still a huge advantage.

So the dust would obscure views in the middle of a battle. That's a big disruption.

Same with the HEV dropping in on the battle. It's disruption. Maybe he's distracted with another enemy.

I don't know how to put this any more clearly for you: IT WOULD DISRUPT GAME PLAY. IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.

what if you could shoot down the pods?

i think that would be awesome

  • 10.28.2009 8:33 PM PDT

waz up

this would be a great idea but it would have to be a option under spawning id say if there were these 3 settings,"classic", "limited controlled drop", "fully controlled drop". fully controlled drop would only be in customs though, like the firebomb grenades.
