Subject: New Way of Spawing?

1. not 5 seconds, 3 or less

2. debris or dust tossed up to obscure view making kills harder

3. if someone doesn't notice a big HEV come burning out of the air and landing next to them its their own blam fault and maybe they shouldn't be playing the game

Oh, two seconds taken off. That'll definitely take the unbalance of being INVINCIBLE in the middle of a battle. No matter how little it is, it's still a huge advantage.

So the dust would obscure views in the middle of a battle. That's a big disruption.

Same with the HEV dropping in on the battle. It's disruption. Maybe he's distracted with another enemy.

I don't know how to put this any more clearly for you: IT WOULD DISRUPT GAME PLAY. IT'S NOT A GOOD IDEA.

so you think its a bad idea cool. but it seems like a lot of other people like. seeing as you aren't bungie you cant really say what would make it or not.
instead of invincibility it could be overshield or camo or something that just makes it harder to be killed

this would be a great idea but it would have to be a option under spawning id say if there were these 3 settings,"classic", "limited controlled drop", "fully controlled drop". fully controlled drop would only be in customs though, like the firebomb grenades.

agreed

what if you could shoot down the pods?

i think that would be awesome

would be cool but i dont think that would/could give points because the player technically hasn't spawned yet

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

What if instead of the current spawn method, in some maps or gametypes you spawned out of a drop pod. there would be limited control as you dropped. any enemy unlucky to get in your way could be crushed. this could also be a medal: orbital bombardment or something like that. what do you think?
Sounds cool, but unless Halo: Reach had some kind of dedicated server system, no thank you. The games would be so glitchy it would be unplayable.

i dont think there should be a fully controlled drop even in customs. small chances of dropping into objective areas during objective gametypes.

for example dropping into enemy flag area and the other team would have no way of defending against you taking the flag

yea that could be a problem but HEV's wouldn't be much different from driving any other vehicles except they are one time use for a short period of time

Well, imagine this:

Think of how often people die and respawn in the average Halo game. It's quite often. Imagine these HEV's needing to suddenly spawn in constantly. These things aren't small. The map would overload and be overrun with HEV's very quickly.

HEV's would dissapear quickly/only like 10 allowed at once

how about only for games that aren't objective or infection

If you haven't played it, download the Demo for the 360 it is fairly fun, and uses DROP PODS!

Enough of these LOL DROP POD ideas. It's not feasible, and, in addition, allows for spawn camping because of the "limited control."

Do you even know the definition of feasible...? Of course it's doable, but whether or not it's worth it is a different topic.

I like it.

When you die you would automatically go into a drop pod and your spawn time is how long it takes to get to the battle, possibly?

And the controls would be basic, like lock on to certain, specified places on the map say one of the Valhalla bases, land there, delpoy, and you're in the heat of the battle.

However, this should be an option. Would get annoying for custom infection games, but would be great for machinimas!

the spawn time idea would be cool and drop pods only for some gametypes or maps. that could mean no drop pods in infection but could be changed for custom games. there would need to be some limits on landing areas though

Well there should be some way to control where whitch teams can drop. like only 1 Meter away from base, 2 M out, 4 M out, 5 M out, 7 M out, etc. but the drop pod areas have to be 5 M ayay at all times.

Nah, we're better off with our good old Halo 3 spawning system. This spawning system would make the game exactly like Section 8, which was a horrible game in my opinion.

  • 10.29.2009 9:31 AM PDT

Exactly what problem is this supposed to solve? It creates more problems than it solves.
What happens with indoor maps?
And what do you do when everyone knows exactly where you spawned because they can see where the drop pod is coming down?

  • 10.29.2009 9:45 AM PDT

brasil é o melhor

I would lazer evry pod I see

  • 10.29.2009 10:32 AM PDT

You can never succeed if you never try.

Sounds kind of like spawning in section 8. it is an okay idea, but i don't really like it.
