Subject: New Way of Spawing?

Play hard,
Play fair,
Play to win.

My friend and I were hoping they would do that for Halo 3:ODST and were mildly disappointed that it was just regular old spawning... but there is still hope for Halo Reach, or maybe drop pod spawning on some new Firefight maps

I think it should be impossible to actually destroy the pods but merely knock them off of their present course

I think that this wouldn't be a great idea because it kinda ruins the ability to control parts of the map. Also that doesn't work on all types of maps because some maps and levels are featured inside buildings or ships where drop pods wouldn't work at all.

as previously said this would only be able to be used on some maps. obviously dropping into ships and buildings to spawn wouldn't work

?
or the could ad a small hole near the top maybe?

except for the problem where you have limited control over your pod so a little hole wouldn't work.

maybe a big hole in some buildings but cant happen on ships. the problem with ships is this minor detail called space that would suck everything out the little/big hole of a ship

Exactly what problem is this supposed to solve? It creates more problems than it solves.
What happens with indoor maps?
And what do you do when everyone knows exactly where you spawned because they can see where the drop pod is coming down?

read the thread and these problems will be addressed. will update the OP with the updates

A drop pod could be cool for say a Firefight styled game mode. But I'm not sure about matchmaking.

that would be cool to. im not saying this should be used but it would be awesome if done right. im sure bungie/343 could do this really well

maybe in a death match type game where you spawn once and you have one life. (so there isn't a constant rain of drop pods)

but that would take the whole fun out of having to watch the sky so you dont get crushed by a falling HEV

well i want that game type. but it could be in other game types. (you could still look through our pod windows at your teammates who are dropping also)

yea there would be different gametypes and drop pods wouldn't be in all of them

...And when i am standing there, watching as the slingshot is cranked back into the shadows, a smile will bestow upon my face as I softly whisper one word..."blam...."

"Dear Humanity; we regret being alien bastards. We regret coming to Earth. And we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet!"

click it you know you want to

how about this, for all people who don't beleve this is possible, that it would lag the game too much:
you drop in the begining(depending on player model, you could drop from in an HEV or a covenant drop pods) then, once you land, the pod would dissapear after 10 seconds or if an explosion happens too close to it(grenade is sufficeint once it lands). you are immortal during the fall and invincible 3 seconds afterward(to prevent spawncamping) and you could only die from assasinations and falls. this is also optional and would be probably a seperate game type like ODST TEAM SLAYER or somthing like that. it wouldent work on small maps and enclosed spaces. Only open maps like Blood Gulch and Avalanch.

I speak the truth, and truth speaks itself.
The lies disguise what you despise.
Run. Flee and be, what you've always dreamed.
What happens now won't matter later.
What you see will not be, nor what you imagine will not happen.
The end is close, so take your dose.

I guarantee someone's gonna find a way to spawn kill.

Meh, I would like it but Bungie needs to be original in it's content. Stuff like this would be sick, but not original.

anybody worried about this stuff can read the opening post. it has been edited to include all of these issues

wouldn't happen on indoor maps and having cinematics for multiplayer would be pointless because you would see the same cinematic over and over again

I actually kind of like this. Not only would it possibly help with gameplay, but it would be a pretty epic spawn, as opposed to just appearing. But let me give you some quick pro/con thoughts that come to mind:

PRO
1. Better than invincibility as a spawn solution, as it is more fair. You don't get spawn killed cheaply, but neither can you spawn and kill an attacker cheaply because you're invincible.

2. It's an epic way to enter the game.

3. If health makes its way into the game, allowing attackers to have a warning of spawns around them makes it more fair, as they won't get spawned on and blindsided by someone who just spawned with more health than them.

4. Dust flying up to obscure is a good idea. Pods shouldn't land exactly the same way all the time to allow for easy kills.

CON
1. I don't like the OS/Camo idea. The drop pod would allow you a few seconds to see any threats and prepare for them when you landed.

2. Having a pod drop actually cues the enemy in to where you spawned and gives them an advantage. However, with randomized dust and since most people know generally where you're going to spawn anyway, it's not that big of a deal.

3. How would you work this for indoor maps?

I think this is a lot better than a spawn room or invincibility. It also fits well with Halo, as we know drop pods are used (for ODSTs, anyway). I think it is a nice balance between giving the one spawning some help, while counteracting any large benefits with costs.

1. thats sort of the idea
2. that it is

1. maybe like half an overshield for snipers
2. thats sort of what i thought. dont think spawn camping would be any more of a problem
3. wouldn't be used for indoor or small maps

Awesome isn’t just a word. Awesome is a way of life. Awesome is a way of war. Teamwork matters the most. Lone Wolves jeopardize the missions. Teamwork is key. Resistance is futile. The covenant fear us, not the other way around. We don’t fight for Earth. We don’t fight for Reach. We fight for the good of mankind because we are A.W.E.S.O.M.E.
